It's not our job anymore to protect these people. They want freedom and free reign, then they need to start fighting for themselves. Yet, some Americans went to Afghanistan even after the treaty and withdrawal were in place and happening...traveled even when there was a level 4 travel advisory in place. That is why all those Californian students and families are stuck there now but they traveled against strong warning not to. If you are told not to do something and then you go do it anyway - you can't expect more then what is being done now. And, some Americans don't want to leave.
Wait why are there students there??!!
And I have to agree if they were warned not to go and went anyway it’s on them. Who takes a trip to Afghanistan?!!!
I do think we should have evacuated everyone first.
But no one wants to address why the f there was any kind of treaty with the Taliban made??!!!
The way it’s going looks like most think we should have not left. We should just take over the country claim it as our own and run the while thing if we are going to continue staying.

ISIS doesn't just rebuild itself in a matter of 9 months.......you can keep your head in the sand all you want but ISIS, Taliban, AL qaeda don't just disappear and then reappear. They have always been around just maybe not in Afghanistan. If they were able to regain control of the country so quickly after US has been there for so long what makes you think another 20 years will end any differently?

Also this is a mess. It’s BEEN a mess. You’re not fighting a military. You’re fighting a radical, violent, religious ideology.
It wouldn’t matter who we had as President. It would be a mess and lives would be lost. It’s heart-wrenching. It’s also the price of us meddling all the time.
It will only get worse over there. It’s horrible for all those people and our troops, who are fighting but also providing humanitarian relief.

I agree. No matter how noble the cause, you cannot fight radical idealogies...it doesn't matter how long we were there it would never ever go away.
I agree with pulling out of Afghanistan it probably should have been done a long time ago, however the execution was horrible and should have been much better planned. Now we have lost an additional 12 US servicemembers and the respect of our allies and other foreign countries. A horrible mess.
