I only have sons but I def understand the concerns mothers of daughters have, not only for their daughters but also for themselves, and for all women really. Just to be briefly since this is not what this thread is about, I don’t believe in anti abortion laws because they’re dictatorial and no one should ever feel entitled to tell u what u should or should not do with ur body (if u can’t tell by now I don’t believe in Big Government and any sort of mandates that come from it). I also believe that we should have a better system to help women not get to that point of abortion, I’m not talking about cases of rape, incest, etc. I’m talking about women that don’t have the right guidance to make the right decisions when engaging in sexual activities or really know how to protect themselves to avoid unplanned pregnancies. Sexual conversations are still taboo even in our time and that’s something that needs to change, starting at home with parents and as the child grows. This type of anti-abortion mentality is one of the reasons why I can’t align with the Republican Party, because of this type of extreme mentality. I used to be a Democrat but that was also a mistake.
Having said all this, I’m still happy the governor of TX decided to fully open the state, fine for masks mandates, and allow schools to drop mask mandates. Cuomo has a lot to learn!
An education for all children, teens, and adults about sex education. The onus should not be on the female NOT to get pregnant. It takes a penis with some sperm too. Boys and men need to be make just as responsible for an unwanted pregnancy or pregnancy as females are.
I 110% agree.

I think it's the perceived irony that Texas feels that masks are an infringement on one's personal rights and yet they impose legislation that infringes on someone's reproductive system as if a uterus is a stand alone entity therefore the Heartbeat law is not an infringement on the female who's body holds that uterus.

I get it, makes sense. I just started the tread bc we’re going backwards in the mask department while they are moving forward and I’m very jealous of THAT, and only that. ....and their warmer weather LOL

I’ve lived in Texas for almost two years. Everyday, fewer people are wearing masks. The governor banned them in schools after June 4, which just means for next school year. School ended last week. The fines for masks mandates only refer to local governments, so that local mayors/judges can’t override his EO and mandate masks.
As for the abortion debate, that’s another story. NY is obviously predominantly pro-choice, and that is reflected in their elected officials. Cuomo lit up the Empire State Building in pink to celebrate when Albany allowed for late term abortions.
Many Texans are happy about the abortion bill. They see it as saving innocent lives, not taking away women’s rights.

Saving innocent lives? What about the lives of every other innovecent kid in Texas who is suffering from their governments malfeasance? They don't care about kids who homeless, living in poverty, or whose parents need assistance. To suggest its about "saving lives" is a slap in the face to every single parent who has had to struggle with keeping a pregnancy.

Well then the responsibility all falls on the Parent who never wanted the kid to begin or couldn't provide a quality of life with and the viscious cycle continues. And I don't want to hear about any BS about foster care. Plenty of children are left unadopted.
