Impeachment Trial Day
I am REALLY hoping that they hold Trump accountable for all of his words, actions and rhetoric which absolutely and without question led to the insurrection at the Capital. I don't care if he's gone from office, actions must ALWAYS have consequences.

I wish they would phrase it to the GOP Senators as...
"Are you willing to say that if Biden isn't elected to office in 2024 for any reason, that he can do LITERALLY ANYTHING he wants, without ANY repercussions for the entire month of January 2025?"
If you're not OK with Biden being able to do any illegal activity he feels like without any consequences, then you have to convict trump for committing the most grievous action that a sitting POTUS can do.
I can't picture a GOP Senator saying they are OK with a Democrat committing crimes without getting in trouble....

EXACTLY! I honestly don't understand how they can do anything other than convict him. The man has a video, phone call and tweet trail ten miles long. How much more proof do any of them need at this point?
He tried to bribe Raffensperger, he has been tweeting forever about the election being stolen and for his base to "take back their country", he stood before that mob RIGHT BEFORE the insurrection and told them to "fight like hell or lose your country" and the list continues. He is guilty as sin and for a POTUS to behave in that manner is simply reprehensible.
What does it say about our country, our politicians and our Constitution if we let Trump get away with any of this this? He MUST be held accountable.

But they know that all they have to do is remind most of the GOP (at least 34 of them) that if they don't vote to acquit, trump will be mad.
It's not an impartial jury, and most of the Senate has already made up their minds.

I wasn't watching but what was the video? And what in particular are people still defending? Would like to google the video...
CNN has it as do others. It was a 14 min video that was shown of the violent insurrection along with Trump's speech, videos and tweets that day.

I just watched the video.
It was vile and quite upsetting.
I know they won't convict 45 but I hope they are thorough in investigating the rioters. There were enough closeups and distinct voices that these people shouldn't be able to hide. Someone has to be able to identify many of these people.

I'm watching some of his speech. I have to take breaks. Wow, is that hard to listen to. He's giving a book report in the front of the class based only on seeing the cover of the book!

Thanks. I heard that number somewhere too but had not seen this.
I just feel like it should be more a month later but then again so few people were arrested in the moment so they are just working with footage.
