Any Baruch graduates?
DH is in the marketing manangement program. Today they spring the news on him that he NEEDS a minor-is this true? thanks

Well I was going to Hunter and you are required to take a minor. I'm not sure how it is at Baruch.

I think the rules are that you are under the requirements that were in effect when you first started the program. Tell him to get a bulletin from the year be began and see if it says he needs a minor--if not, he can petition to get out of it. They can't spring that on you mid-program.

I think either way (whether you minor or not) you still need the same amount of credits to get a degree...

I have no idea. I got my MBA from Baruch. But I will say, they do spring things on you at times.

I graduated from Baruch. You need a minor but I think you could do a general business minor - take credits in various fields and not just one track like economics or something.

well I threw some temper tantrum last night. He was told he only has 5 classes left. then goes in yesterday to find out he needs a minor and none of the classes he is taking will fulfill the requirement. I have been very patient with his schooling and his instant change from architecture(only had a year left) to switch to business. But I have had it and I am done. I want to buy a house and get on with my life. His life is horrible right now, and I can't imagine going through another year of it. He is a fulltime student/full time employee, I never see him. This is the first counselor out of the 4 that he has seen over the years to tell him about this requirement. I think I am just going to buy a house in Charlotte and rent it out until he graduates and then see what we should do next. I don't want to miss another housing boom, and it hasn't hit Charlotte yet. We are getting killed in taxes because all of our money is just sitting there. I told him to quit his job and just load up on 6 classes this semster, but he said he can't imagine not working...ughhhhhh

Seriously, tell him to talk to the head of the department. I was an advisor, and believe me, there are some bad ones out there that do misadvise students. Before he takes action or changes his registration, tell him to get in writing from the department chair or someone high up what exactly he needs to graduate. And he could petition if he was never told about the minor.

thanks!! see that is totally what I think too.
My sister works at Temple, and she told me to call the dept head because she does not think he is going to fight for it and he is going to back down. He had this attitude last night, like that is what they said what am I suppose to do? He has the names of the prev couns. that he spoke with, they should be held accountable. When he first transferred they made him take psyc classes that he had already taken. He settles with these people so quickly, then started an argument last night at a camping goods store because they never put his order in. I told him its a sleeping bag!!! Did you get this mad when they told you that you have 4 classes left??????
