Resume question
My daughter got her CNA certification before she left for college in th Fall. As part of her Physician Assistant program, she has to get a certain number of patient care hours by her junior year. So she sent out a bunch of resumes for CNA jobs for this summer. Mostly she responded to part time or per diem ads. So far, she's applied to quite a bit and has not received any responses.
My question is: She has been specifying that she is looking for summer work between semesters. Is this ruining her chances? Should she not disclose this? Is the fact that she'll be leaving again for college in the Fall hurting her chances?

Re: Resume question
Try applying to healthcare temp agencies. She may need to apply for a position near her college so she can continue working throughout the semester. If not, see if volunteering at a hospital will count for patient care hours in the meantime.

Re: Resume question
She would need to apply to "summer internships" or even just contact places and see if they would let her get her hours in over the summer. She may have to consider unpaid.
Part-time jobs would not hire someone for 2 months. It would take that long to train her and then she'd be leaving. If she wants to go the part-time route, it may be better to apply closer to her college so she could stay on after classes resumed.
Also, if she's required to get certain hours in, there's a good chance her program/adviser would be able to help her find a placement.

Resume question
I worked in a doctors office in college and we used to have PA students rotate through. The school placed them (this was St. John’s), the students didn’t have to find their own jobs. I think they spent a month or 6 weeks with us and then moved onto another specialty.

Resume question
She is only certified in NY, so her work has to be here. I will have her try a temp agency maybe. Thanks.

Re: Resume question
I remembered your post when I drove by this sign this morning - I know nothing about it, but sharing just in case it could help
(Ugh! Can't post picture - but it was one of those signs that you can stick in the grass and it said "Hiring Inexerienced CNAs 631-371-8155"

Re: Resume question
Does her school's Career Center offer any sort of guidance?
