Budget Apps/Tools
We decided to really budget because we are spending way to much on food and clothes... (I mean I've been going nuts on the recent purchase thread ). It was depressing going over the #'s but I am happy because we can save so much more. And I am tired of wasting excess money.
My questions is for those who budget, do you have a free app that you recommend to monitor your spending? Or do you just use Excel/quickbooks tool on your pc?
Last night I spent a good amount of time testing two apps: Good budget, Every Dollar. I want an app where I can track my spending according to the actual amount I have. So if I get paid twice a month, how am I allocating that first check vs the second.
Good budget is cool because you can see where you money is going and how much you have left, But it doesn't really track paying your bills well. It goes by an envelope system.
Every Dollar is good for tracking your expenses & bill payment, how much you spent vs your monthly income. You can't really see how much actually have.
It could because I am using the free versions but I basically want a combination of these two apps lol. I was thinking of just building a spreadsheet but wanted some ideas.

I follow debt free community on Instagram and we have been so much better with finances and have been able to save close to 2k monthly while paying off student loans. I use the every dollar app! Definitely check that out for some ideas!

I use Mint.com which I believe is part of Intuit. I have been using it for years.

Re: Budget Apps/Tools
I use an Excel spreadsheet so I know when money comes in, what to pay when, what my fixed expenses are. That's fancy enough for me.

Re: Budget Apps/Tools
I use everydollar but pay for it ($129/yr). It live updates everything once I linked it (bank, credit card, etc.) so I can always see what I have. Also, I use the app for tracking different transactions but have you tried look at the web-based site? It has more information and you can add different items (due dates, etc. on payments).
I love budgeting (am an accountant as well) and I've tried every app under the sun. I've had excel spreadsheets for years (budgetsaresexy.com has some great free templates) but its so time consuming and everydollar feels like a game to me. :) LOL.
ETA - I haven't found an app that does what you mentioned (allocating expenses used in first paycheck versus in second) but everydollar has come the closest because once I've made the first half of payments, I start looking at the "remaining" versus "budgeted" screen and can quickly see what I have left to pay in the month. I hope this makes sense! LOL.
