Re: Hotel in times square
Intercontinental Times Square Hyatt Centric Times Square
In terms of restaurants you have to leave Times Square- that is tourist central and the restaurants suck

La Masseria and Bond 45 are both restaurants in the Times Square area and are really great.
Lillie’s Times Square is a cool spot for drinks.

I love the Knickerbocker. Also have a rooftop bar and you can practically touch the NYE ball there.

Hotel in times square
I stayed at the intercontinental for a bachelorette party once. The hotel was nice but since everyone refused to eat or do anything in Times Square we ended up taking cabs all over the place.

Re: Hotel in times square
The Marriot Marquis in Times Square is really nice and they have the revolving restaurant/bar at the top with amazing views of the city.

See i was going to ask- why Times Square? There are so many better/cooler/more fun areas in NYC. Is there a reason it has to be Times Square?

Hyatt Centric would be my recommendation if you wanted to do Times Square - they have a great rooftop bar.

OK yeah. Times Square is just a lot of crowds and tourists and mainly bad restauants(with a few exceptions). I mean unless she wants to see a show.
I would look into SoHo or Tribeca instead. Does she have any requests of what she wants to do in the city? A specific bar or club she wants to go to? Maybe start there and work around the location.

I don't have any hotel recommendations but I agree with Nell. I personally would keep most of Manhattan open to hotel options and then pick the hotel with the best value given the reviews. Or if there is something you want to do in Times Square, like a Broadway show, you can try to stay in Midtown if you want to limit travel time but I wouldn't limit the search to Times Square only. You can always take cabs.

I agree. Times Square gets too crazy and crowded, that for me takes away some of the fun. Tribeca has great restaurants. I prefer Soho, though, since it would be a bit closer to midtown and also has great restaurants, bars and stores.

To be fair, you'd be hard pressed to find a part of the city with nightlife that isn't crowded and somewhat touristy but times square is a nightmare.
When is the bachelorette party and what do you guys want to do? There are some hotels with nice rooftop bars if it's warm out. Otherwise you can really stay anywhere.
