what is there to do there for families besides tour the campus and check out some of their nice restaurants? I heard it's a nice place to visit in the winter

Like for a vacation?

There’s not really anything else to do there. Some parks that were revolutionary battlefields but that’s about it.

I’ve never heard of this as a place to visit.

It's an hour away but might be good for your family if they are into trains.....Northlandz.

We have family that lives right near there and it’s sort of a dead zone in terms of things to do in the immediate area. Even growing up, we’d make the trek in a day and not even bother to stay the night.

I don't live too far from Princeton. It is a beautiful area and nice to walk around, but winter is tough. Lots of great restaurants and nice to walk around the campus. There's an art museum too.
When it's warmer out you can rent a canoe, go to Great Adventure, which isn't too far and nice to be outside too. Just not sure in the winter. For a day trip it's fine.

i used to live a stone's throw from princeton.
i miss it.

but like others have said, there isn't much to do as far as a "vacation."
