Donating a Bible
My SIL is cleaning out her house to move and she came across a bible. So, she "gifted" it to me for Christmas! I get that she doesn't want it and can't throw it away, but I don't want it either. Does anyone know of a charity that would want a bible? I was going to call my parish, but figured I'd ask here too.
Thanks!

Re: Donating a Bible
If you donate to church then put it in with the rest of the stuff. I’m sure someone will get use out of it. Or a Christian charity,

Donating a Bible
No advice but next year you should gift her a dozen fruitcakes.

No. I'll just take something from the corner of my basement and give it to her!

Re: Donating a Bible
Wait did she wrap it and everything? And then tell you she found it at home?
I read it as gifted it, saying here I have this extra bible and wanted you to have it but not as a Christmas present?

We don't exchange among the adults, so I wasn't expecting anything. Occasionally, we'll get each other something small. And, sometimes, there are gag gifts. Yes, she did wrap it, but told me as she was giving it to me that she found it in the attic. I wasn't expecting a gift and I didn't think of it as a gift. I thought of it as something she didn't want to deal with, so she gave it to me.
I'm not offended -- just annoyed. I would have rather that she said "I found this bible. Do you want it? If not, where do you suggest I donate it?"

Yes, I agree with you. Why wrap it? Just ask if you want the Bible.
We don’t really exchange gifts either with the adults unless we plan it certain years or do a secret Santa. But that is odd to wrap it as a gift. Lol.
