Recommend your flooring
Looking to put down all new flooring throughout the entire first floor. It's a big space so is foyer, great room, dining, kitchen and bathrooms. I don't want to do wood throughout bc I'm afraid it'll never last. We have a pool and too many people coming in wet (even though we have a pool bathroom LOL). Now we have tile in kitchen, bathroom and foyer and wood in great room and dining room. I want one floor throughout.
Thinking vinyl wood look. Any recommendations? Reviews? Good and bad? My IL's just did a dark vinyl and she said it shows everything so that's what I fear.
Thanks!

My DH installs wood floors for a living and he put in vinyl wood floors in our kitchen/sun room. It looks great, is easy to clean, and water won't damage it. I guarantee that's what he would recommend. You don't have to go dark. We have like a greyish color, something like the photo below. It looks great!

Thanks! I like the grey, but our home is all earth tones so wondering if we would wind up painting too if we go grey. LOL

Haha you might. But even the medium browns or light are fine. DH installs them all the time. I just do everything grey tones because I am terrible at matching color schemes and I figure it's the most neutral lol.

Recommend your flooring
I had the wood look vinyl plank flooring installed in 3 rooms this summer and I love it (living room, dining room and another room that has no name lol). Really don't have to worry about it scratching or anything. It's so easy to maintain. I'm pretty sure it's an Armstrong floor that I picked out - I can double check it later tonight. I had a medium/dark brown color installed and have the walls in those rooms painted a gray/beige color. I don't think they "show everything" at all. I have wood floors stained almost the same color and they show a lot more dust and stuff than the vinyl.

Re: Recommend your flooring
I'm a big fan of bamboo. It's much harder than the hardest wood, but it has the warmth and look similar to wood. I have traditional bamboo in my office, and stranded bamboo in my dining room and kitchen. For the stranded bamboo, my contractor had to buy special nails to go through the boards, because the nails he's used for 20 years of installing hundreds of other floors just kept bending with the bamboo.
I kept a sample piece of bamboo flooring outside in the UV rays, heat of summer, and snow and ice all winter, for an entire year, and after the year outside, only the clearcoat was damaged. The board itself was like brand-new.

Re: Recommend your flooring
I agree with the luxury vinyl floor, too. They come in so many colors, not just gray. You can get water resistant or waterproof and it's not very expensive. We're doing it for our basement and I love the look of it.
I'd recommend going to Floor & Decor in Farmingdale. It opened recently and they have a great selection of vinyl, tile, and more. Their prices were very reasonable and good quality products. I fell in love with the store when I was there.
