Daycare Holiday Gifts?

So my DD's daycare is huge. The classroom she is in is split (Bumblebees and Monkeys Chat Icon) so the younger kids are the monkeys and she's a bumblebee. For each class there's a main teacher and an assistant. DD gets to daycare really early (7:00 AM) so while the Monkeys teacher is not her teacher, she interacts with her and with me a lot in the morning. I feel like I should get her a Christmas gift, too. I'm giving the main teacher a DD gift card, some homemade cookies, and one of those little bath and body works hand sanitizers because kids are gross. Chat Icon I'll probably do just the DD gift card and some cookies for the assistant. Should I give the Monkeys teacher something? Maybe the same as the assistant? It was easier last year since she was only there in the afternoon and only interacted with two people. Now there's so many! Chat Icon

In that case I would give her what you give the assistant teacher, yes.

Re: Daycare Holiday Gifts?

My kids go to the same daycare as yours Chat Icon I am having the exact same problem! My younger is in Kitties and it’s insane how many teachers take care of him every day... I don’t even know all their names or where to begin with gifts. Even one of the main teachers changed and I don’t know the new one at all, never met her. So lost! They’re all great though and I’d like to do something for them all, but don’t know what.
PS I love the Monkeys and Bumblebees class! My older son was a Monkey last year & D is awesome so I totally agree with giving her a little something. Is K still the main teacher of Bumblebees? I didn’t realize one was the main and one was the assistant... just thought there were 2 teachers in each.

I always gave a little something to everyone - my kids used to be dropped off early and picked up late. I usually got bath and body works hand soaps for the people who weren’t with them in the regular class during the day. Especially since many days I never saw their regular teachers.

OMG! That's too funny!! Yes, Miss K is still the bumblebees teacher- she's so fantastic. And so is Miss D. I almost miss my bus every morning because I stay there chatting with the two of them. Honestly, I didn't really know about the assistant either until I got back DD's class photo and it listed one as the teacher and one as the assistant so I was like ooooooookay I'll try and gift appropriately?! Also, DH has never met Miss K since he picks her up in the afternoon and I guess she's gone (at 4:30). I've never met the one in the afternoon! It's SO confusing!

Re: Daycare Holiday Gifts?

My DD is in a similar daycare situation. I give the main teacher in her class a larger gift. Then I give the assistant, and the teachers who are in the room with her in the morning at drop off, and then the Director and Assistant Director. And then generally I will bring in a tray of cookies for the rest of the staff to share.

There are so many "floaters" and when they're short-staffed (which is more often than not) teachers from other rooms are in her room with her. So, honestly, she's being taken care of by almost every teacher in the daycare at some point during the week.

I stopped giving the morning and afternoon and floaters gifts. I just give the main and assistant teachers. It's too much to give everyone.
