Thank you cards - Christmas gift
Do you send a thank you card for a relative who gave a gift to your kids?
DHs aunt sent the kids a $30 check for both of them. We sent her a regular Christmas card. Should we also send a thank you? We won’t see her so can’t thank her in person so I’m thinking yes?
Another aunt sent small toys. No note or anything in package. I’m assuming they are from her. I’m thinking yes also so she also knows we got them.

I send thank you notes to those who send gifts that we don’t see over the holidays.

I don't send thank you's for Christmas gifts nor have I eve received one. We send our holiday cards to everyone so they have that. But we do call nd verbally thank the person for the gifts but I don't do extra, specific thank you cards

Either send a thank you or have the kids get on the phone to say Thank you.
If no acknowledgement is made, I always wonder if they got it or did it get lost in the mail. I would hate to think they thought I didn't send anything- especially with gift cards. Thanking them takes out the awkwardness of the giver maybe asking if you received it.
Of course this doesn't happen when a check is eventually cashed, but even so, if the giver is not signed up for online banking they have to wait another month for the statement.
Either way, it lets the giver know it is appreciated.
