happy birthday or no happy birthday?
would you find it weird/"wrong" if you didn't sing Happy Birthday at an adult birthday party?
i'm thinking of having the Beatles birthday song playing when the birthday cake comes out.
do we need to sing happy birthday after that??
or would you find it weird if you DIDN'T sing happy birthday?

My DH absolutely hates being sung to so we never sing happy birthday to him! I’ve always found it bizarre

Unless your SO is totally the type that hates being sung to (I know my DH HATESSSS it), I'd still sing Happy Birthday after the Beatles song.

i LOATHE the happy birthday song..
I would love to hear the Beatles version and then be done with it.
IMO, there's nothing more awkward than a bunch of adults standing around singing a song that is meant for kids, while the birthday person stands there all red faced and doesn't know what to do with themselves (ha, can you tell i hate this?)
but not everyone feels the way i do

That's what I think. Or, people will start singing while the Beatles song is playing. He'll probably end up blowing out the candles when the cake comes out anyway.

I agree with other posters that someone will most likely start singing it. I dont think I've ever been to a birthday party where people didnt sing happy birthday when the cake came out
