Boaters - gift ideas
I need a really nice Christmas gift for someone that I have been dating for a little over 4 months. He has EVERYTHING he wants/needs and is absolutely impossible to buy for. He just joined Freedom Boat Club (where you pay a monthly fee to belong to take their boats out for the day or whatever - kind of like a golf club, but for boats). This is first experience boating, so he will need anything that doesn't come with the boat (all safety equipment is on the boat).
So, other than maybe a Yeti cooler, any ideas?

Maybe you can get those insulated wine/beer cups. I have one from Brumate and it works amazing. Kept ice for hours. Great for wine too.
Check out their site but also check on Amazon because I found my cup cheaper on there

Re: Boaters - gift ideas
Also how about a blue tooth speaker so he can play pandora or whatever while out on the boat?

What types of boats, primarily?
Sail boats, fishing boats, speed boats, cruising and lounging on the water type boats?

Not sail boat. I think it's mostly cruising/lounging boats. He's not into fishing, so nothing fishing related

Cool. In that case, I definitely agree with Nell about the bluetooth speaker. they have waterproof, floating speakers so you don't have to worry about it getting wet, or falling off the boat and getting ruined.

Cart
Definitely one of these carts. You don't realize how much crap you lug back and forth to the boat
You can make a whole care package out of it. Set up the cart and fill with Towels, sunscreen, Koozis, don't waste $ on a yeti cooler - just get a regular nice cooler, bottle opener, a blow up raft/tube for water sports (with tow line), portable air compressor to fill the raft. If you think he'll plan on going to any of the hangouts on the water and tie up to others, extra Lines would be good and there's this raft that everyone has at those spots and they hang on them off of the boat Huge floatie
we have a boat and just trying to think of what he'd need/want as a first time boat guy.
He will be able to lug everything plus lunch and beers back and forth on the dock to the boat in the cart. And it folds up pretty neatly too to store on boat or dock.
ETA: if you guys leave out of Babylon at all, we'll probably see you at the marina! Freedom has a bunch of Boats at our club

This is great! Thanks. I love the idea of getting a bunch of things to make a theme gift - cooler, waterproof speaker, insulated glasses, float, cart, etc. Any recommendations on what cooler to get?
And yes, Babylon is his "home" club and that is the location he'll be using most of the time. See you in the summer!

Honestly, An igloo or coleman will do just fine. Ice lasts 4-5 days in one of those. You can try and find a "Cooler" looking cooler that isn't insanely priced. A Small Yeti will run you $200+. He's not living on the boat for a week without power lol no need to keep ice fresh for an eternity.
And Yes - We'll definitely be seeing you in the summer. The club is great there. They have happy hours and BBQs that are a lot of fun. The people are also really nice. It'll be a fun summer for sure
