Everyday place setting

I am in need for new everyday place setting. Any advise? Mine is so old we got it at Fortunoffs for our engagement about 12 years ago. Lol

Thanks!

Re: Everyday place setting

My every day set is from before I got married. It is 19 years old and also from fortunoffs. I replaced all of the bowls with ones from crate and barrel. It is a plain white set, and the bowls matched.

I had stoneware that I hated for a variety of reasons. Ditched it last year and got Corelle and couldn't be happier. It's not the fanciest but with young kids you can't beat the durability.

I agree with you. My stoneware chipped and was heavy. The Corelle is light, thin and makes emptying the dishwasher a breeze. (They dry real fast.) There are a lot of nice patterns too.

Same - I have square plain white Corelle & love it, especially with young kids.

We have both a nice square ceramic set and Corelle round white plates.

90% of the time we use the Corelle, it just works best for everyone. They're so light and thin, we have a stack of like 16 plates and another 12 breakfast plates. Even for gatherings where people use paper plates, a lot of times we use the Corelle, they fit nice in the dishwasher and store easily.

Corelle is the best for everyday - it wears well and many different designs

I have everyday place settings from Crate and Barrel. They were relatively inexpensive and I’ve had them for 13 years.

Another vote for Corelle. They last forever. They do have more modern looking patterns/shapes now, not just the ugly ones from our parent's era.
There's a store in Carle Place.

I use Mikasa Chip Proof China as our everyday dinnerware. It's not $$ like our Lenox. Almost at 8 years and only cracked one bowl. It holds up nicely Mikasa Antique White

Re: Everyday place setting

I have fiestaware and love it. I know a lot of people here seem to like Corelle, but have you ever seen one break? I have - I dropped a corelle dish on a tile floor and they literally explode into a zillion pieces when they do break. It’s not often, but I don’t want that on my hands. Just an FYI, they are not entirely break proof

Same here!
I don't have formal china. I use Mikassa Italian countryside for everyday and special dinners.
