Has anyone had this happen to them?
We replaced our hot water heater on friday. Ever since, my hair is a greasy mess. It's disgusting.
How do i fix this? how long will this last?

Re: new hot water heater = greasy hair
My dh installed a new hot water heater for us about 6 months ago and I did not have this issue. That is so odd! What could even cause that? Maybe run your taps for a bit?

That is definitely not normal. Even if there were some contamination in the installation, it shouldn't last more than a few gallons.
Do you see any effect anywhere else? How are your dishes? Is there a film on them when they are done? How about the washing machine?
Did anything else change recently? Shampoo, conditioner, etc?

Yes!!!! The glass shower door now has a film on it.
Nothing else has changed recently. My husband and son feel the difference too.

That's bizarre and not normal. Do you have a dishwasher? How's that?
I'm basically trying to figure out if it's the whole house or just one room.

I was going to ask that. It almost seems like whatever you were using to treat your water before (water softener, filter) isn't working anymore.

Re: new hot water heater = greasy hair
Ok so we called the AC/Heating company we used. They said on the rare occasion it does happen. Of course we were the rare occasion!
Basically to drain the old hot water heater, they have to drain all the water out. He said that the old heater probably had a lot of sediment in the bottom. Which probably stuck to our pipes on the way out.
He said it takes 3-4 days to filter out. So he recommended running the water a lot. My husband ran 5 faucets today for 2 40 minute clips.
After my run I took a shower and it’s 80% better! I could actually run a brush through it without tons of knots. Thank god. So hopefully tomorrow or the next day it will be back to normal.
