Too Many Sonograms?--I went for
2 already and I am just about 12 weeks? I am supposed to go for a third on wed to test for down syndrome---are all these sonos safe?

I have had about 4 or 5 in this pregnancy alone. I have also heard that too many can be unsafe, but all mine were to make sure everything was okay with growth, so I figured it was for good reason.

With my first pg that ended badly unfortunatly by 21 weeks I had had 25 sonos. Im sure you will be fine. I was having them daily.

It depends on your situation. Many women need more sonos for medical reasons. I had quite a few early on for medical reasons and then they tapered off. The last 2 I had were for my Ultrascreen at 12 weeks and then I believe the next one I had was for my Level II at 20 weeks.

From 24 - 36wks I had them weekly sometimes 2x week for medical reasons. My baby is healthy.

I had one every week for the whole 9 months.. not for medical reasons, just cause i work in xray and had the sono techs at my disposal. It's fine, sound waves do not harm the baby.

I had them weekly from about 34 weeks on for Gestational Diabetes. The doctor reassured me that they were safe.

I have a sono everytime I go to the dr which was every 3 weeks and now it will be every two weeks. My dr. said that its fine

My friend is a sono tech and she looked at her baby almost everyday... she said it was absolutely fine!! Dont worry! The Dr's arent gonna do anything to harm you or the baby!

I have had one every time since I have diabetes. I questioned my Dr and she said it was fine.
