Gift for Schools

Our pta is trying to come up with ideas/way to spend our money on the school. A gift that will keep on giving, if you will. We usually pay for assemblies, field trips, we've bought STEM supplies, mindfulness supplies, pay for dances, staff appreciation, buddy benches etc. Trying to stay away from ipads and computers...
Any suggestions?

What sort of price range? It sounds like your talking about a decent amount of money.

A digital sign for out front of the school? Beats putting all those letters up when things change!

Or an indoor recess room if you have an empty room. Put large, life size games in it, air hockey, etc. Many kids don't go out for recess in the colder months, and they sit in their classroom. A dedicated classroom is a great idea and they rotate classes in it. My DD actually wants to do this for her GS Gold Project in the future

For indoor recess we buy each classroom updated games and stuff. We just sent out "wish lists" to each teacher.

We have 2 schools so maybe 5K-10K each (if our fundraisers do as well as they usually do)

Our classrooms have games and stuff also, but don't want to sit in the same classroom that they've been sitting in all day , for recess! That's the biggest complaint in the winter!

Ours stay in the classrooms but also rotate into the gym and a "maker space" room that has all sorts of things to build and create. I don't believe either school has an extra room right now.

not super "fun".... LOL but i know at my son's school the PTA was recently talking about updating the water fountains to the kind that you can fill water bottles from-- hopefully keep the kids from touching the mouth piece and passing sickness around... HAHA
They also just got the school a new sound system in the all purpose room to help with the kid's little shows, etc....

We did replace all the water fountains a couple of years ago, they are great, everyone loves them.

This is one of the things our school is getting this year.

How about something for the playground?

We've done "school beautification" projects. Things like murals and mosaics in the hallways and AP room/cafeteria (that the kids have a hand in creating, they work with a visiting artist).

We are getting inspirational decals to decorate restrooms, and one of the other schools in our district just had an artist create colorful custom plaques for the stairs (the risers in between the stairs) with book titles, math facts, character ed type quotes. It looks great.

The digital sign is a good idea. Last year, we got flags to put out on the front lawn for certain patriotic holidays.

At our school, the PTA has provided a lot of the funding for playground equipment that needs to be replaced (and we are currently saving for more). That is very $$$.

We recently augmented the recess play equipment with a new "recess cart" and stocked it with all different kinds of balls and jump ropes and other outdoor play equipment.

Also consider enrichment/after school programs... things like chess club or cheerleading or a school play. Plaza Theatrical has a musical theater workshop that runs for 15 weeks (for 4th to 6th graders) that you can run as an after school program. It culminates in a full-scale production of the show. It's $6K for the program, though.

Gift for Schools

We are buying a gaga ball court this year. We have done new A/V equipment in the auditorium, restocked all the classroom libraries, hydroponic things for STEM (the kids loved growing veggies), equipment and storage for outdoor classrooms for our courtyards, indoor game room with basketball machine, foosball tables, lego tables, sensory toys.
