Would you be blasting the AC in your house this morning?

No? Because it's currently 48 degrees outside right?
Seems logical.

So riddle me this- why are they BLASTING the AC in my office right now to the point my nose is running, my hands are getting numb and my throat is getting sore?

It's not just on, it's BLASTING at high speed.
I'm sitting here with my jacket on and thinking of going to buy a travel blanket or something.

If this office was this cold and it was January, the heat would be kicking on. I don't understand it.

And this from the same building that sends energy conservation emails out all summer long asking us to shut our lights during peak hours and to make sure we put our computers on energy saving mode when going to lunch etc.

But yeah, this is a great use of energy.

That sounds miserable!
My office was super cold when I was working so I got a box of hand warmers, the extra big ones and they were life changing.
Can you complain to someone? Sounds like they didn’t switch over to heat yet :( ugh, I hope you don’t catch a cold!
I vote you sneak out lol

So when I work in the LI office (which I'm in pretty much all the time) I have a space heater. We aren't supposed to but I don't give a shit. I hide it under my desk and that's that. Nobody checks there anyway. I cannot function when it's 45 degrees in the summer and I'm in a summer dress.
But I am in the nyc office today and we are in a huge high rise so I am not sure who controls the temp in each office. I would assume building management but I am sure they get 1000 complaints from all the tenets about temperatures in the offices so they probably won't do anything.
Funny too because last week building management for this nyc office sent out an email reminding people that they can't have space heaters. Hmm, well then maybe turn the AC off and you won't have that problem!

Re: Would you be blasting the AC in your house this morning?

how horrible.

i ALWAYS have a space heater. we're not allowed to, but i hide it behind my little file cabinet that's under my desk.

i also have reusable hand warmers and a sweater at my desk.

lol i say, start doing jumping jacks in the middle of the office. if you're miserable, everyone else should have to put up with you doing what you can to stay warm.

i second the vote for sneaking out!!

How freaking annoying!

My son goes to some classes at Stony Brook and their air is set to 64, no joke. I sit there and FREEZE while I'm waiting for him to come out. It's insane!!!!

Ugh my office is usually like that, but so many people complained yesterday that they calmed it down today. It's still cold and I am using my jacket as a blanket but I'm only *slightly* shivering. Chat Icon Chat Icon

ETA: We had a fire earlier this year from a space heater so they've really cracked down. Chat Icon And I'm in a huge midtown high rise, too, but our facilities people can adjust the temperature without contacting the building.

AC is on here, and I am wearing a sweater to keep warm.
Even my menopause flashes aren't working today.
