Kalahari worth it?

Thinking of going Christmas Eve time. Is it worth the cost of 2 nights or 1 is enough? Is Christmas time the most expensive?

Trying to figure a short getaway then and we don’t celebrate Christmas. We’ve done DC, Boston, Philly and day trips. Never been to the indoor water park so thought it would be fun.
We just went to rocking Horse Ranch over the summer with family and we were able to do a ton in just one night. Got there super early.

Thanks!

Re: Kalahari worth it?

It is so much fun!!!
We have done it in just one night, if you are looking to save some money.
You can use the waterpark until it closes on the day you check out so you can get that full day too- just bring stuff to change into for when you are ready to go home.

Re: Kalahari worth it?

One night is probably enough but it definitely is a lot of fun. My kids were a little bored with the 2 nights but then again they do not go on the big water slides;

Re: Kalahari worth it?

Thanks all. We don't mind spending the money if it's worth it, but we do like to get the most out of things. If it was up to DH he will stay to the very last moment of a vacation.
With this trip I'm thinking one night, two full days may be enough if we get there in the morning.
Is food included? Can you bring your own?

Like I said, for Rocking Horse we did 1 night and really got to do a lot. Got there at 10AM and was doing every activity. It wasn't crowded though and really no long waits so we got to do a lot and do it a few times too. We stayed the next day till about 5.

At least Kalahari isn't a long drive from us either. Maybe less than 2 hours.

Kalahari worth it?

We are there every 3-4 months. We love it. My 1 and 5 year old love water and getting them to leave is a fight. We usually go thurs -Sat. There is a supermarket down the block we usually stop at to keep drinks and food in the room. They are getting strict about bringing food in so I
Usually just bring in the girls water bottles and when we get hungry we either go off resort or up to the room. Food is good there justnpricy.

Food is not included. You can't bring food into the waterpark but there is a fridge and microwave in the room if you want to make something.
They have a bunch of restaurants- buffet, sit down, fancier, causal, snack bar, candy/ice cream shop and a market type place in the lobby for quick grab bagels, pastries, sandwiches etc

Thanks!

So is Christmas the craziest time to go? There's a special for 2 nights get 15% off so was considering that.
Trying to figure it's always around the same cost or do they jack up prices Christmas. WE'd go Christmas Eve.

Haven't been at Xmas but to be honest it will probably be quiet in there on Christmas eve and Christmas- a lot of people are celebrating at home with family
might be a great time to go.
Now that week after- that will be a zoo with the school breaks

How much is it a night? I’d price other times that are off peak to get an idea of how pricey it is.

We usually go Sunday-Monday and the rate for a regular room then with no deals is typically $199 a night. I’ve seen it at $179 in the past from time to time but that’s the lowest I’ve ever seen. It’s more expensive generally to go on weekends and when school is out.

Wow! That's a great deal. I'm seeing about $700 for two nights at Christmas time.

I am going for a random weekend in Nov and it's about $389 for one night so that's about right. Weekends are expensive as are school holidays.

Re: Kalahari worth it?

totally worth it. There are so many other things to do besides the water park. We are actually going for Thanksgiving. We did t a few years ago, and was surprised at how good the Thanksgiving buffet was.
Cant wait to go next month.

Make sure you are selecting specials from the option box on the booking page. They have them often. Also look on the actual website. And sign up for their emails. I've been getting tons of discount emails lately. But, never dates we can go. We haven't been yet, one of these days!

Re: Kalahari worth it?

We just went last weekend with a group of families from DS's school (and we went last fall with them, too).

We love it there. I've done one night and two. I think both are fine. The advantage of two nights is that you can use the waterpark the first night (and it's less crowded) and leave at a more reasonable time the last day. Plus you don't have to worry about room being ready and where to change and all of that.

However, the only reason why I did two nights this time was because we had a group rate, and two nights with the rate was the equivalent of one night without the group rate.

If you do one night, I agree that you can arrive early and leave later to get the most out of the water park. They have changing rooms and lockers for your stuff, and I find that even though check in is stated as being at 4, the rooms are often ready much earlier.

We like Kalahari a lot. It's clean and the water park is big. There is a lot to do for all ages. My DS is 9 (will be 10 soon), and has a blast there. There's an arcade, bowling area, escape room. And there are decent dining options on site (burger place, steak restaurant, italian, buffet) plus an ice cream store, candy shop, coffee/pastry place. So you really don't have to leave the property, which makes it low stress.
