Movie birthday party question
My son got invited to a movie birthday party at 10 am to see the movie Small Foot. This is his first year at this school, they are in first grade and I don't know any of the parents and kids in his class. Am I suppose to stay? My friend said the parents would not be paying for all the adults and children. Do I just drop him and leave or pay for my own ticket? Im thinking after the movie they will be having cake. Thanks so much
Is 25.00 gift card to Target enough?

Movie birthday party question
I think you usually book the whole theater for a party. DD has been to ones in Bellmore and Seaford and both times it was a whole theater and the parents stayed.

Re: Movie birthday party question
They pay a group rate for the theater usually. At that age I would stay with your kid. Yes a $25 gc is good

Re: Movie birthday party question
It depends. I was invited to one where the mom texted to ask if I wanted to stay because she had to pay for the adults and she was going to buy the tickets at Costco for cheaper (this was at a Regal theater and the move they saw was general admission so there were other, non party goers in there too)
I have been to others at smaller theaters that they rented the whole place out and everyone was included in the price.
What theater is it at?

Movie birthday party question
All of the parties we have been to at the movies, the theater was open to the general public. At that age, I would buy my own ticket at the box office upon arrival and stay, but not sit right next to my kid

Movie birthday party question
The movie parties we’ve been to have rented out the whole theater. Parents have always stayed but don’t sit with their kids.

My daughter was invited to a party at Regal and it was open to public. I purchased a ticket at the box office when I arrived and watched from the row behind with other moms.

Re: Movie birthday party question
DD has been to 2 movie parties- at the same theater. They rent out the whole theater but the price only includes up to a certain # of people. I stayed at both parties. 1 Party, I paid for a ticket and the other party I was covered bc they were within the number of guests paid for. I’d just be prepared to buy a ticket. $25 gc is a nice gift! It’s a cute movie- have fun!

Movie birthday party question
I think it is odd to have a movie party for a child at an age where the parents are expected to stay -- but also have to buy their own ticket. Either rent the entire place out or do the party at a place you can stay with your child!

At the one we went to, the mom hosting bought all the tickets for the adults staying. (she bought them at a discount in Costco) I would do that if i were having it at a theater like that. I wouldn't want to ask people to pay either!

Re: Movie birthday party question
Where is the party at. If its at bellmore or the merrick theater then its one set price for up to 30 kids and adults.
If its at a regular theater it depends how they did it. The one I went to rented out the whole theater so it was not open to the public. I don't know when drop off parties start but I don't think in 1st grade most parents would feel comfortable leaving their kids at a movie theater where its open to the public.

Stay!
I say that bc last year for my twins party I had two parents come in and go. Ok I’ll be back in 2 hours.
We were doing food/ whatever we needed for party and I turn around and one of the kids are gone. Went to the bathroom. I panicked for a good 5 min
Usually the whole place is rented. And you don’t pay for adults. At least where we were

Movie birthday party question
FOr 1st Grade you def stay for movie. You even get to eat the popcorn if you are going to Bellmore theatre. My boys are in 2nd now. I cant tell you how many movie parties we saw last year. OMG, so done with that. LOL
We had one there also for 6yr old. Its cheaper and you can invite the whole class.

Re: Movie birthday party question
We literally just did that same party for my son turning 7 (Smallfoot was really cute)
i'd say half the parents stayed, half dropped off
We did it in Bellmore and we had the whole theatre to ourselves (which was awesome) and paid to have any parents stay that wanted to.
At that age (1st grade) you'll have a mix of parents that want to drop off and ones that don't so it's a little weird that the parent throwing the party isnt' paying for parents.
and yes, $25 gc to Target is perfect

Re: Movie birthday party question
Thank you so much everyone!! I plan on staying for the party. This is a new school for him and I don't know the parents yet or even the kids. I still feel like first grade may be a little young and if he has to go to the bathroom I would want to be there. We have 3 parties tomorrow and everyone is getting 25.00 gift cards, the boys Target and the girls Michaels. I would love to give more but I can't right now. Thank you all for answering my post. I guess I actually have to look presentable now when I leave the house tomorrow.
And for those that asked its at the Seaford Cinema in Seaford. I have never been there.
