Has anyone been to a party at Dave & Busters?
I'm considering having my son's communion there and am looking for input. I know it seems a little strange to have a communion there but i have at least 25 kids on our guest list, the large majority being boys. I was looking at catering halls and restaurants and then i was just thinking how they are going to be bored and how the heck am i going to keep them entertained and it's going to cost me an arm and a leg to have bored children annoying me? LOL Then that came to mind so I thought it would be worth looking into.
If you went, what location did you go to? Did you have a private room? How was the food/bar situation? Overall, how was the experience?

We have been there for a few parties, and I will say, the buffet food is just pretty gross. I like their food when we go and order off the menu. But, most of the stuff for the parties was just disgusting.

Re: Has anyone been to a party at Dave & Busters?
I've been to several at Islandia. We usually ordered off the menu (they limit the options to a certain price point). Food is always good, and the kids have a blast. Most of the time, the party just gets a bunch of tables put together. It's cheaper than getting a separate room, but you can always do that as well.
Now that DC are older, we've just taken a couple of their friends to D&B, give them some food, and get the play cards for them. Informal, but the kids like it just as much, and it's easier for me...

I just booked my sons 10th bday party there for October. I have a large family so I rented one of their rooms - it was an extra $100 and you had to do one of the pricier packages with minimum of 15 people. I reserved the Wayne,NJ location because time square is too congested for me.
The regular table reservation only allowed max like 20 ppl. We get the room for 3hrs. I can tell you next month how it is. This is my sons first party at a place.

Re: Has anyone been to a party at Dave & Busters?
We recently went to a kids party at the Westbury location, and it was wonderful!! The food for the kids and adults was nicely prepared & plentiful. The party room was shared, but it was so big, it really didn’t matter. Everything was so great I was considering a party there- then I saw the pricing! Lol!

This is promising.. to me food is life although I'm sure the kids will only care about the games.
It is costly but I was originally looking at Medieval Times Since I gave my DH that quote he has been calling my son's party "MTV's Super 10th Bday bash"

I haven't been able to get prices yet. What are we talking about here? If you don't mind my asking.

Pricing is here- but if you look at the fine print you’ll see it’s slightly more for LI locations Dave & Busters

Re: Has anyone been to a party at Dave & Busters?
I had called on pricing for a party. Also the packages did not include much game time. I think they had an option to pay extra for unlimited game play that does not provide tickets, something like that which I would think would be a must for a longer 3+ hour party.
Also pricing from website was definitely less then what they quoted me.

Re: Has anyone been to a party at Dave & Busters?
I have been going back and forth with a woman there and she just sent me the pricing WITHOUT game cards. I was shocked. The cheapest is $28.99/head but it’s a nacho bar and chicken fingers. The decent buffet packages started at $50/head and went up to $71.99/head! If I’m paying that, I will go to a nice facility where I know I will definitely get good food.

That is ridiculously priced! I would go elsewhere to be honest! You can hire a DJ/Balloon artist for less

It is pricey but I honestly do not think she gave you a correct quote. Im doing the buffet and its like 37.99/pp with Game cards. The quote seems off.
I do think for a communion party, maybe a restaurant with a room would be better for a large crowd. Idk I would do a full party at D&B.

I was on the fence about doing it there to begin with but I thought it would be something to keep the kids entertained.
The middle grade buffet was $49.99/head, the $20 game card is an additional $16/head and that does not include, tax, gratuity or alcohol. That was for adults. Kids were $24/head but they got the game card automatically and their meal was the usual kids' selections.

I wonder what they are smoking? You can do it in a hall for that price.
I’m guessing their prices change for actual parties. My price is for adults or kids, I just need to guarantee 15. Then after I can add platters for food.

Re: Has anyone been to a party at Dave & Busters?
So my sons party was yesterday and everyone had a blast.. adults and kids. The food was really good and everything ran smoothly. The price wasn’t actually as pricey as I thought. It was around the same as any other party place and we actually had our own room. I had kids from 2-14yrs old and everyone had fun.
We did it Wayne,NJ, which, is a fairly new location. I don’t think it’s been open for a year.
