birthday party...

Im throwing a bday party for my son. He just started K in a new school. Not sure if i should invite the class or not. With family and friends we already have 13 kids coming, but the ages vary from 2-6. The party is on 9/30. I just received the class list. If i invite people to the party they would have to RSVP in a few days. Is that OK or should i just skip it?

It's not too late. My son just got an invite yesterday for a party on the 30th. If you don't invite the whole class, mail the invites home so nobody feels bad.

Re: birthday party...

You can definitely just invite the boys. My dd always chooses to just invite the girls.

Is the location asking for a ballpark # by a certain date? If not, maybe by 9/27 to give you 3 days to get goodie bags and whatnot.

When dd was in preschool she once got an invite less than a week before the party. I think it came home on Tuesday, RSVP date was thursday, party was friday. 8 or 9 out of 10 kids on the class showed up! Definitely not too late.

I got one sent home once on a Thursday for a Saturday party and it said sorry this is so late, I will explain.
And it had no RSVP number or email on it.

We have been invited to parties on less than a week notice from friends who just threw one together last minute. So, I don't think it's too late! Just put the 23rd as the RSVP date. It probably works out better being so close, because people don't put it aside and forget to RSVP

We couldn't make it on such short notice and I was stumped on how to decline. I looked up the child's name on the class list and tried to text the number that was listed (no email was listed). I wasn't even sure if it was a cell phone but it was my only option. I texted saying thank you for the invite, but we have another engagement but I never got a response. I don't even know if it was a cell phone # to be honest.
At that point I figured I did what I could and chalked it up to a scatter brain mom! LOL

I wouldn't invite the class. I'd be happy to have a party with a reasonable number of kids that my child actually knows rather than a ton of kids that he barely knows at all. I will never understand bday parties with 20+ kids, it's totally chaos.

We just did this. DS started pre-k on 9/5. We gave out invitations on 9/6 with an RSVP date of 9/10 and party on 9/15. 1/3 of his classmates came, but the party was very out of the way (we are on SI and the party was in NJ). I think more would have come if the location had been closer.
