Bridal shower gift?
Good friends of ours let us know they are getting married in nov. they booked a wedding last minute last weekend. They don’t live together and I’m not sure what their plans are after they get married. Both live with their parents (we are in our 30S). They have a registry with pampered chef and bed bath and beyond. They have literally thousands of items. I’m talking like 5 different bathroom ensembles the works but from what I heard, they may live with the brides parents after. Should I just get them a gift card? The invite is encourage gifts to be wrapped in celophane... so I don’t want to just give a card and gift card. I’m not sure where to go with this? A few items were purchased already- we got the invites 3 days ago and they were kitchen gadgets. Should I just buy something that they are look g for? And if so, how is the pampered chef quality? It’s pretty expensive but again these are good friends of ours so I don’t mind spending the money

I would get something practical from the registry. Since they don't already live together, they will need everything. I'd go with sheets or towels or dishes. Something that everyone would need to set up a household. I'd avoid vases and decorative items. JMO

This sounds bizarre and I would get a BBB gift card. Who wants to weed through thousands of items? That’s ridiculous.

When it’s good friend I usually get an appliance, like blender, toaster oven, coffee pot. And those are usually easy to wrap in clear wrap.

I typically give practical gifts because when I had my bridal and baby shower we needed EVERYTHING we didn’t live together prior to getting married so I get needing stuff! I was thinking of may chipping in with another good friend for the pots and pans but then we were both like where are they putting this stuff? And were thinking gift card so then can buy when they are ready? If my friend decides not to chip in I may get the ninja coffee bar instead of a gift card.

I wouldn’t spend too much time trying to understand their registry strategy. I’d just filter for an amount I want to spend and pick an item in that range. They picked the items, so I assume they want them or will return them.

the clear wrap is so they don't have to unwrap everthing at the shower. I had a friend do that for her baby shower b/c her bridal shower was insane and they didn't have enough time to open it all. It will all be on display for everyone to see. So I would def get a gift a practical gift

Maybe they’re storing it at a parent’s house until they buy a place? Maybe they bought a house and are keeping it to themselves for now. Honestly, I wouldn’t even think twice about it. Just buy them something she registered for in the amount you want to spend.

Re: Birds shower gift?
If you feel more comfortable giving a gift card, you can always get a small item from the registry to “display” and package the gift card with in the cellophane.

Thanks for the recommendations! I found a few things I would get from the registry if my friend decides not to chip in

This.
If they registered for it, they want it. Just buy what's in your budget.

This exactly. I wouldn't be giving it another thought. Just pick a gift off their registry. Easy peasy.
