Horrible experience at Security Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM in Amityville.

I have an older Jeep that I am looking to replace. My husband purchased an RT Dodge Durango 3 years ago at this dealership, so when we received an email about their Labor Day event, I went in to take a look at their Jeeps. This was Saturday, Sept. 1st. After a long day of negotiating and trying to find the right fit, I decided on a 2019 Jeep Cherokee Limited w/Technology Group pkg. It wasn’t on the lot and I’d have to wait a few days. I was ok to wait. A few days later I get a call my truck is in and I set an appointment to pick it up on Thursday, Sept. 6th. Almost 3 Hours of waiting for paperwork, it becomes apparent that they gave me the wrong truck. It looked exactly like the one I was going to lease, but it didn’t have the technology group pkg. If I didn’t notice it, I would have left with the wrong/lesser truck! So, they transfer my insurance back to my truck (which I come to find out they did not), apologize for the mistake and tell me they are expediting the right truck to the dealership (Took longer than the first one). I get a call Wednesday, Sept. 12th that it’s in and I make an appt. to pick it up. I went today and went out to make sure it was the right one and inspect it. I was not happy. 1. It was FILTHY – mud all over break pad, drivers side floor and front of car. It had Armor All oil dots and smears EVERYWHERE hand prints, etc. And sticker glue on glass and door jam. 2. Had scratches along the driver’s side in different spots. They take it to detail it & try to buff out scratches. After another hour, I go back and not only is it not much cleaner, and the scratches are still there, there is a new HUGE scratch on the hood and large chip in the top of the windshield. Kind of looked like someone hit it with the head of a hammer.

Manager comes over and says very little and then says that they can fix it all, but I’d have to either leave and come back when they have it done OR take it broken and bring it back and leave it with them to repair. I told him this is a NEW?TRUCK. It is broken. I won’t take it. I’m not taking a damaged vehicle. No offer of another one to replace it. Not even an offer to lower the price because of the MAJOR inconvenience. I was so upset, I said just switch everything back over to my old truck. He casually says Ok, that’s fine switch it over and walks off.

I then had to wait an additional 30-40 minutes for these people to get my title back to me, get my plates back, fill out a credit card charge back for my deposit, etc. I still don’t know if my insurance was put back on my truck because my insurance agent is closed. I have to call tomorrow to make sure.

I don’t know what happened at this place, but it is run like crap. I will never step foot in there again. My husband’s finance is up in just under 2 years and we were planning on going right back there to look at the SRTs. Not anymore. This was such a terrible experience. I should have known as soon as they almost let me leave the first time with a lesser truck that it was shady. Lesson learned. Just wanted to warn others before you do what I did. Lose time off of work multiple times, spend hours upon hours sitting and waiting over multiple days just to leave empty handed and disappointed.

Omg what a fuking nightmare! I would be sure to blow this up on social media. And maybe email corporate about it too.
This is why I am dreadinggggg going to look for a new car. I need one badly but I freaking HATE car dealers.

Oh no! That is unbelievable.

We just bought a Dodge Ram two weeks ago from a dealer in Queens and have had nothing but problems with it. I am very anal so I inspected it before we drove off and found so many issues with the exterior that they had to clean off. Smudges and sticker shit. A big, weird paint spot on the rear bumper.
And now we have to go to service tomorrow because the brakes are squeaking. Brand new 2019 truck. We are so pissed.

So sorry you went through this. I have heard that Amityville does the bait and switch. Can't imagine how they are still in business if that is their MO.
We were looking to lease a Durango GT in July and went to Town and Country, where we bought our previous Jeep. I didn't have the horrible experience to the degree you did, but being ready to take the car after waiting and playing the game they make you play, they then came back and said "Oh wait, I thought you were talking about the other Durango. We can't do this Durango for that price". Needless to say we walked out an never looked back.
We did end up leasing the car from Westbury Jeep. As far as dealerships go, they were pretty nice and easy to work with. But that doesn't say much because they all suck! Car shopping is the worst thing ever!

I am curious when they told you they found the first car did you ask for window sticker that shows the VIN of the actual car you were buying? You would have needed the VIN for insurance anyways.

For what its worth, I do know Merrick Dodge (on Sunrise in Wantagh) is awesome with everything. I know so many people that have bought cars/jeeps/trucks from them and love it. Hassle Free!
