Traveling with toddler from JFK
We are traveling to Bermuda in October with our DD who will be 17 months then. We had to book our flights to/from JFK as that is the only airport with flights to Bermuda. This is the first time flying out of JFK with DD.
When it was just DH and I, we would take cabs from our place in Astoria to the airport. Now that we have DD, what is your opinion on the best way to get to JFK:
1. Taxi as usual and install the car seat while the taxi driver waits (we have the Cosco Scenera next for travel)
2. Pay for long term parking at Lot 9 at Lefferts Blvd and then take the Airtrain together to the terminal.
3. Have DH drop me and DD off at the terminal, then he parks at an off site parking garage (recommendations needed!) and DH takes the shuttle van to meet us at the terminal.
I think the cost should be the same given that a taxi from Astoria to JFK will be around $50 with tip (so $100 total). Four nights of parking should be around $100.

We always do a modified version of option 3 since we have been traveling with our DD. DH drops us off at the terminal, then parks in long term parking and takes the Airtrain back to the terminal. I check in with DD and go through security and then Dh meets us at the gate.

I wouldn't do a taxi, I'd probably do #2 because I feel like it would be the easier option for when you're returning home, especially if the car seat you're traveling with isn't your regular car seat and you don't have to uninstall and reinstall it.

I have never liked taxi or car service to the airport. It just adds to the stress of my trip. I would have DH drop you and DC off at the terminal and go to long term parking or off-site parking.

I use ParkSmart or Jiffy Park ...park there and take the shuttle to the terminal. I throw the car seat in the shuttle and take it with if I need it for the plane.

Re: Traveling with toddler from JFK
Done it both ways. It’s about the same with 1-2 kids. Putting in a car seat is not so hard once you get used to it.
Now with 3 kids, we drive and park.
Parking at JFK is no fun. By the time you get to the terminal, you feel like you already traveled.
Even LGA is better to park at.

We always do option one without any issues. Good luck!

Re: Traveling with toddler from JFK
We’ve always taken car service (I guess it’s closest to option #1 in your case) and installed our seat no problem. We’ve always flown with our seat aboard though. Leaving my car at an airport would give me anxiety the whole trip. And traveling from any long term parking (airport-sanctioned or private) would also add to my stress level.

We've done option 3 multiple times with 3 kids all under 5. Jfk long term parking is an off site parking we use. It's super convenient!
