When you decorate for seasons/holidays...

When you decorate the inside of your house like for fall and for spring (easter or whatever), how much of your normal year-round nicknacks, picture frames and stuff do you leave out? Do you just throw a few pumpkins or easter bunnies around the year-round stuff or do you clear everything off and make “scapes”?

I feel like my decorating skills are seriously lacking, like its where’s Waldo to discover it’s fall around here but am I seriously going to pack in everything for each season? (Right now I just do it for Xmas). I only have a few things out to begin with, but where do I start to make my home a little more “wow” for my girls?

Re: When you decorate for seasons/holidays...

I decorate for fall, christmas, valentines day, spring/easter, and once easter passes nothing until 4th of july and thats just a wreath. I don't have a ton of nicknacks type of stuff and leave most of it out except for Christmas time because I have so much Christmas stuff it would look like hoarders if I didn't.

I'm brining out my fall stuff this weekend indoors but I won't decorate outside until the first weekend of October. I don't really do Halloween its more just fall stuff that I can keep out until Thanksgiving. Day after thanksgiving I put up all my Christmas decorations and take them down New Years Day. I love Valentines day decorations and I put those up mid Jan. I decorate a little for St Pattys day and as soon as thats over I decorate for Spring/Easter and than stays up until Easter.

I just do Christmas. I stopped decorating for fall, easter, etc because it clashed with my every day decor. Also fall decor depresses me.
I keep Christmas to a minimum too. A decor tree, all matching and simple ornaments/colors and a few small, classy items in silver and sparkles around. Red and green is not my thing.
Less is more

I don't even want to do Christmas, let alone any other holiday! I pretty much just change the welcome sign on the front door. Otherwise, it just looks the same all year round!

I go all out (moderately) for Xmas and Hanukkah.

For fall, we will make leaves for the window and put pumpkins on the stoop. We'll hang bats and ghosts from a tree, maybe put up a scarecrow. Nothing crazy. Dollar store stuff.

For spring/Easter/St. Pats, we might make something but we keep it simple.

For the 4th, we put out little flags along a fence we have.

I have seen REALLY cute printables that I want to frame and change those out seasonally.

For Christmas I kind of have to clear everything out because we have so many decorations it looks like Santa Threw up everywhere

For some holidays I throw a few things around the main floor of the house

Ex for easter I buy a few dollar store paper decoration type things- bunnies, eggs, whatever they have-and stick them on the windows; any plastic eggs from previous years easter baskets go into my every day vases (that are otherwise empty lol), and any bunny headbands or other things get thrown on shelves as decorations. Nothing major

Sometimes I save cards the kids receive from their grandparents and place them under the glass on the kitchen table (Halloween thanksgiving easter)

I don’t have a lot of knick knacks or any picture frames, so the decor I put put out is seasonal. I do have some items that I try to incorporate with the all the seasons though. I decorate for fall/halloween, christmas, spring/easter and summer.

I decorate for everything this time of year!!! I move some other decor around or pack it away to make room for the seasonal things. From the end of September through New Year's we have a 6ft tree in the living room (which is the room you see when you walk into the house) that is decorated for Halloween, then Thanksgiving and then Xmas. Our big Xmas tree goes up in the den Thanksgiving week. I LOOOOOOOVE the fall and the holidays so I like everything to feel seasonal this time of year. BEST time of the year!!............I am so excited it's finally here!!

I do a little decorating for Easter but not much. St. Patty's Day and Valentine's Day I put up things just in the kitchen for the kids and only for the day.

I just do some seasonal decor through the house. Now that my kids can do crafts I have some fall crafts we are working on which will go up on our big front picture window. I put some stuff up in the windows on the stairs etc. I change our dining room table each season as well and change up the outdoor decor. I like to try and keep a somewhat minimalist lifestyle because I feel more stuff= more time cleaning and more clutter. I’ve been on a majoring purging spree the past week especially because we will likely be listing our house in the near future. The things I do buy I use year to year and mostly get stuff from home good or Kirkland’s!
