writing skills!! what ever happened to them???
i am starting to believe that the reason why so many small businesses fail is because of customer service and people's inability to compose a sentence.
if i reach out to you and say...
"hello.
i'm interested in the widget you sell, but i have a quick question. ask question.
i look forward to hearing back from you.
thank you for your time, Future Customer"
am i asking too much for said business to reply with...
"hello future customer:
thank you for your interest in my business and widget. answer question.
please let me know if you have any other questions.
looking forward to working with you, Widget Maker"
but instead i get a SINGLE run-on sentence that doesn't answer my question, is condescending and rude because i don't know their business, and am told how i need to pay immediately.
gee! really? how about i take my business to the guy who might charge me a little more (which is a big deal for me right now, since i'm counting pennies) and knows how to be polite, respectful, compose a sentence, and ANSWERS MY FUKKING QUESTION.
thank you for reading

Re: writing skills!! what ever happened to them???
I’m with you!
We just had 5 people come and gives quotes for our new floor. 2 quoted me immediately and continuously said how hard the job was. The 3rd said he’d get back to me tmrw and then immediately text me an outrageous price from my driveway. The 4th texted me 5 days after coming here with a basic price and breakdown. #5 told me the amount it should be but said they would email me an actual estimate. He did. Full breakdown and it was less then what he guesstimated at the house. His price was exactly in the middle of all the quotes. But his professionalism and follow up had him get the job.
I don’t know what’s happening with people.

yes, and when I read online news articles, i'm like, what in the world ever happened to proofreading?? how do people hit "send" on the garbage they write? looks like it was written in a mad dash, in the middle of the night, while smoking the furniture.

I find a ton of grammatical errors in books I am reading too. I should be an editor!

I've sent corrections to NY Times, and I do it all the time for ABC 7 Eyewitness News online. Drives me absolutely bonkers when things are written so badly.
I had downloaded a book to my Nook. Could not read the darn thing because the sentences were long and overly descriptive, and the paragraphs endless.
