? about buying toddler shoes

I am just wondering what the norm is.

My DD just started walking 6 weeks ago. She is a size 5.5. Once she seems like she is outgrowing her shoes, I will order more from Stride Rite.. the question is- what size do I get? I mean, if she is a true 6, do I get a 6 (so that they fit perfectly)
or a 6.5 (so that they last longer and so that I am not constantly ordering shoes)?

Did you end up buying your toddlers shoes in every half size or do you size up and buy shoes a little roomy so they last longer?

TIA!

Not all brands have half sizes so you might have to just go up to the next full size

Every child's foot grows at different speeds. Sometimes my children wear their shoes out before they reach the next size. Typically, though, we go every half size about every 3-4 months. A full size is a lot. Too small and they trip. Too big and they trip. I get the right size.

This. My 2.5 year old has been in a size 6 for almost a year. Her feet don’t grow. I have several pairs in a 7 waiting for her to wear. I would buy the true size.

me too for both my kds. We stick in the same size shoes for so long. Granted when they were younger I probably waited a little too long to go to the next size because the didn't complain but really they change maybe once a year.

Also like a PP stated shoe sizes can be different depending on the brand. Drives me crazy I don't get why all shoe makers can't just use the same measurements!!

I had DD fitted at Stride Rite and they advised me to get a half a size larger so that she gets more use out of them. Especially since Stride Rite shoes are damn expensive. I also usually buy them at the start of the season so I buy half size larger so she can use them the entire season.

ETA: My DD must have big feet- she grows about 1/2 size each year. She started out at 5 and now I'm getting her 7s for the winter. She turned 2 in April.

We just go every 3 months to the striderite store in Sayville. My dd’s feet never stop growing. She’s 5 and went from an 11.5 to 13.5 in 6 months.

Re: ? about buying toddler shoes

Both the stride rite store and the local mom and pops place I go to typically bring them a shoe one-half-size bigger than what they measure. But not all shoes are sized the same and some are also wider, etc. and some don’t have half sizes. We have a foot measurer at home, I’ll use it to order some shoes online but their main everyday shoes I go to a store
