Insurance on rental car
When you get a rental car, do you add the insurance? My car in the shop and its through the guy who hit me's insurance policy, so I was authorized for a rental car, which isn't costing me anything, but the guy at the rental place had me add some insurance for $12/day for a damage waiver in case there are damages/scratches/dents. My DH told me I am probably the only sucker who took it, so I just wanted to know other's experiences...

No, but DH did the same thing.
And we had the rental for a while so it added up.
I was annoyed because this accident shouldn't have cost us a penny as we were backed in to.
I don't think you need to add that at all.
He was going to call and drop it, but then his truck was finished so we returned it.
Never again

I never add the insurance. Your own insurance company should cover if anything happens with a rental.

I'm glad you chimed in. DH wasn't sure 100% if a rental was covered under your own insurance.
