Would you say this couple split up?

I’m a bit nosy, but I do try to mind my own business.

My landlord has a business that he runs (ran) out of the house. They own the house. I also have a neighbour above me. Anyway, with this business he has a lot of trucks (he is a plumber and contractor). I would always hear his workers load the truck up in the morning bright and early, and noisy. I haven’t heard them in a few weeks, and I noticed his trucks are gone. I did see them a few blocks away on the bus the other day. It has made the parking situation a bit better.

I looked out the window and saw him drop off their 9-year old (they also have a 16 year old and a 23 year old). He dropped him off with a few toys and even rang the bell instead of using a key (you have to give up your keys when you leave here; it’s kind of the first thing you do).

I talked about it with my upstairs neighbour and she thinks the same thing. The landlords have split up before. I just found it really odd that he rang the bell because of the whole giving up the key situation.

Needless to say, I’m a bit worried because they will probably sell the house and I’m a bit worried about my own financial security when they sell. I have about 2 years to worry about the final outcome.

I swear this house is cursed. I’m getting divorced. My upstairs neighbour had her partner leave, and then she met someone else and they broke up this week.

sounds like splitsville to me!

i understand the nosy/keeping to yourself thing... but if their splitting affects where you live, i don't think it's all that nosy to notice and wonder.

i had landlords divorce and sell the rental out from under me, once. not fun. had i had a heads up of the situation it would not have been so bad.

for your sake, i hope it's temporary.
