Best place to buy a diamond

The center diamond in my engagement ring fell out and I’ve spent days looking for it, lots of crying and feeling sick to my stomach. It wasn’t insured and my home owners insurance doesn’t cover it. My husband wants to replace it and told me he wanted to upgrade it anyways for our 10th wedding anniversary that is coming up I’m not sure he was really planning that but I think he is trying to ease my pain. Anyways my original diamond was from a chain jewelry store. Dh doesn’t want to go with that type of store now. Any good local places or somewhere in the city we should go that we won’t get ripped off.

Best place to buy a diamond

Norman Landsberg is our jeweler, and he's been doing this since 1948. We can't say enough about him, his fairness and his pricing. I used to sell jewelry, so I knew when I was buying a diamond that he was giving me the true price, not a retail markup price. See if you can get your hands on a Rappaport price sheet to ensure fair pricing.
Don't just take my word for it; read the reviews!

If you go to a place like Kay's or Jarod's you just have to have it cleaned/inspected every six months for free and if anything ever happens to the diamond they will replace it. It's like a 2 min process and you don't need to pay insurance on it.

Re: Best place to buy a diamond

DH got my ring from a family friend in Maryland who is a diamond dealer. But, we use Frank & Frans jewelers in Wantagh for everything. Including the cleaning and tighting of the pronges on my e-ring. We got our wedding bands there and DH gets all of my jewelry gifts from them too. All of our friends go there as well. Great people - trustworthy.

Does anyone actually do this? I don’t think my e-ring has ever been professionally cleaned (it’s probably only gotten unprofessionally a few times).

OP, my ring came from Markson’s in the diamond district.

If I happen to be in a jewelry store (like NEVER pretty much) I will ask them to steam it on the machine- comes out amazing.
The last time I did this was when I had to get my e-ring resized because my fingers never bounced back from my pregnancy Chat Icon and my ering was tight.
They gave it back to me clean and I was like WOW
But I've never had it inspected or anything.

I try to keep up on it. Usually when I'm shopping I can find a Kay's to run into quickly. I also lost a small side diamond once and they replaced it right away no cost.
