How often do you get a checkup on your car!
My daughter has a 2010 Nissan Altima which was mine. It has 45k miles so she doesn’t do a lot of driving in it. Both sets of breaks were done in 2015 and she put 15k miles on since then. The car was checked out in 2017. Usually I tell them to do the once over when I get an oil change. Went to a different place this time for oil change for convience so only oil change done. Car seems fine, I try and drive it to work every so often to get it on a longer drive. My friend had the same car who said the belt went and she had no idea. I would have liked to wait until after the summer. Wasn’t sure am I waiting to long?

Honda does an inspection every oil change so pretty frequently

only when it feels “off” it definitely gets a good once over during inspection every year but not as much as when something just doesn’t feel right to me
Maybe get a tune up now to feel good about it?

Yeah this. I will tell DH when something feels off and he'll look at it.
He does my oil changes every 3 months or so and checks things out then.
He checks my brakes when he feels necessary too.
And it gets an inspection by law once a year so there is that. That's actually the only time my car is at a mechanic- for the yearly inspection.
Everything else my DH does.

I go to my mechanic for annual inspections and they tell me what needs to be done (Brakes, etc). They are honest so I know if I need something they aren't BS'ing me.

Thank you! I just got inspection on that car in the last few months so I think I will wait a bit. It seems like nothing is off. I think I am just more paranoid because my daughter drives it. If it was me driving it, I wouldn't think twice about it. Thanks ladies!!

About every two years. That is what is required by law here. It costs a small fortune here. My brakes need to be checked out as per my BF, but I drive my car very rarely (3-4 times a year to fill up the gas.)
The tire changes are a huge pain here. I need to switch summer and winter tires. Then you need to go back and get the screws tightened up. I went back last week to get my summer tires tightened and was told that I had to get new screws. I was annoyed and had to buy new screws. I got a discount, but still.
I just make sure my car is safe to drive, and that’s it. I don’t drive it much.

You have to get an Inspection every year so they will check it then. Other than that, I do my regular maintenance. Check your owner's manual. It outlines what needs to be checked and when. It will tell you both on mileage and time (10k miles or 6 months, for example).
