Puddle jumper
My 18 month olds are only 21 and 24 lbs is a puddle jumper appropriate for them? I can’t find anything on amazon regarding sizing

Re: Puddle jumper
I believe they have to be 30lbs for a puddle jumper

Re: Puddle jumper
I just looked at ours and it says 30-50. It might not stay on them very well.

Dd2 has been using one since she was about 18 months. She's 3.5 now and still isn't quite 30 pounds. The first year we did stay right with her bc it didn't completely keep her up. The other options are infant life vests which are no fun to wear or the little floats they sit in.

I’ve used them well before 30 lbs, but at that size/age we’ve only ever had the kids in the pool with an adult right next to them. How about one of those bubbles that clips on their back?

Re: Puddle jumper
My almost 3 year old isn’t 30 lbs. She’s tiny... she’s under 35 inches tall. We have a puddle jumper and it fits her really well and holds her up perfectly. I’d use caution when under the guidelines, but I bet it depends on the individual kid.

I think 18 months is too young for a puddle jumper. At that age, I held my son the pool or used an infant life vest. When he was 2, he started using a puddle jumper.

I think they make one now for smaller kids. It has like a vest/shoulder part to it.

Thanks! My kids are both thin, and average height they still wear 12 month clothing, some things are 18 months but for example shorts- their shorts are all 9-12 months so I’m going to get the life vests instead!! Thanks for the feedback!

Re: Puddle jumper
My 3 year old still isn't 30 pounds and he started last year with it. 18 months might be too young, but in my experience it's the kid too. Some kids get it earlier. My friends ds is 5 and he still can't use it.

We definitely used it with DS before he was 30lbs. I don’t hunk he hit 30lbs until 4 so we would have barely been able to use it before he knew how to swim if we went by the age.

Lol. I weighed her. 26 lbs and puddle jumper fits perfectly and she’s worn it in a deep pool. She’s a pipsqueak though.
My older DD was in inflatable arm swimmies at 2 on vacation and totally got it. But 2 is “much” older than 18 mo.

My 4 year old isn't even 30 pounds yet - she wore the puddle jumper just fine last summer and also the beginning of this summer-- (she doesn't need it anymore). It was big on her but it did keep her floating above water just fine.

Re: Puddle jumper
My daughter just turned 2 and is about 23 lbs. We bought this one from Target and it fits her. The arm holes are a little big, but it's not like we are leaving her to swim on her own. She loves it and is learning how to kick and move her arms to swim.

Re: Puddle jumper
My son is 22 months, 23 lbs and is comfortable and can balance himself in the puddle jumper, but he is a big stocky baby. My friends son is the same age but very tiny and cannot balance himself or swim on his own in it yet. It definitely depends on the kid for sure.
