Depends on the job.
Flowers, edible arrangements , gourmet basket, etc. when our friend became and RN, we sent her an Alex n ani type bracelet off of Etsy made specifically for that.
If she will have her own office, you can get her something useful and personalized. Check Etsy and type her profession (if it can apply to a physical gift)
You can also get her a gift card to a popular lunch spot in the area with a thoughtful card.

Nothing beats a nice card. If she has to wear a name badge what about a bling-ed out necklace

I'd say a little bamboo plant or money tree or a succulent or something for their desk. Maybe picture frame? Desk calendar? A nice planner.

What does she like?
For example, I LOVE cats. Whenever someone gives me anything cat themed I’m in heaven. I have cat paperclips and all of that. So maybe her likes in an office supply sense. Give it to her in a nice box. All set, hands wiped, and you are done.

The flavors were fun like Get Well Fudge and Tub of Love
It comes in a cooler with dried ice and honestly the best ice cream I’ve had

A friend at work received a beautiful tray of succulents for her new office. Last way longer than flowers and looked really pretty.
I have also gifted someone a silver business card holder for their desk.

One of my realtor colleagues and I have a small side business making custom gift baskets. Everything is totally custom, and we can make a basket for any theme and budget.
As of now, we don't ship them, but we do offer free delivery for areas that are relatively local to Bellmore/Merrick.
This is our facebook page - the posts show examples of our work. We have done everything from real estate closing gifts to thank you gift, baby gifts, birthday gifts. And themes are endless, but some examples are food, drinks, baby items, toys, sports team baskets, stuff for homeowners (kitchen, bathrooms, gardening, grilling, decor), coffee/tea, etc.
