What to do this weekend
DH wants to have a family day on Saturday for Father’s Day. But here’s the twists: he doesn’t want to go anywhere crowded, wants to go somewhere our girls will have fun (5.5 and 2.5) AND, our 2.5 is currently in a leg cast so it has to be somewhere where she will be content sitting in a stroller and not flipping out that she’s missing out on action. Any thoughts?!

LOL well if you live on Long Island or the NY Metro area you can scratch the "anywhere crowded" off his wish list.

I enjoyed the Queens Zoo. It;s great for kids, not too big, and your DD can enjoy it from a stroller

Ugh I know, he’s such a pia! We’re both off summers so I guess he’s just thinking there’s some places we’re just better off waiting a weekday during the summer. I of course fear the camps then but oh well....

Exactly! It's going to be a gorgeous weekend so everyone will be out doing something. I agree about the Queens Zoo, it's not too big, it's perfect. Riverhead Aquarium? At least that's indoors/outdoors.
I personally wouldn't do anything indoors this weekend but you are limited with your daughter. Maybe Children's Museum.

Re: What to do this weekend
I just did Central Park zoo this past weekend and that was nice and small. There were people there but it wasn't overwhelmingly packed.

Hard to avoid the crowds on summer weekends, maybe the Aquarium in Riverhead?

Re: What to do this weekend
I would avoid going East. Between the US Open, Father's Day and nice weather traffic will be a nightmare.
The Central Park Zoo is nice and small. And usually not terribly crowded.

Re: What to do this weekend
we are going to the LI game farm in Manorville tomorrow...but every time we go really anywhere on LI we go super early so we are one of the first to walk in the doors. Its usually pretty nice that way and we are done by the time people start flooding in.
If I cant go somewhere until afternoon, we dont go lol.

OMG same! We get to the beach by 830 am. We leave by 1230 pm. As we are leaving, we see the traffic backed up for miles and miles on the Robert Moses bridge and we laugh and laugh at the suckers who think going to the beach at high noon on a weekend is a good idea. Bye!! LOL

And if you knew how much of a NON morning person I am, and how I despise getting up early, you would know how big that is for me! But, my hatred for crowds > my hatred for waking up early.

Yup! We were going to go to the LI Aquarium, but with the US Open, I don't want to chance it. We're going to the Brooklyn Aquarium instead and then the boardwalk at Coney Island.
