Brookhaven rental permit
I have a condo I rent out- Brookhaven now requires a permit to rent the unit I submitted all the paperwork and application fee and they will now be doing an inspection of the unit- does anyone know what this entails? I currently have a tenant who will be there, I am not sure if I will be fined for having the unit already occupied. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks!

Brookhaven rental permit
We just went through this with our condo. You are allowed to have someone living there as long as you has the temporary permit number. They come in and check everything out. Some inspectors are jerks others are ok. Ours dinged us on a leaky faucet I think and that that our banister was a little wobbly (which it really wasn't). All bs stuff. We just had the maintenance guys at the condo fix those things and all was good.

Thanks for replying Karen do they fine you for things like the faucet and banister - do they come back to make sure the stuff has been fixed? Thanks!

Yes they do. They won't issue the formal permit until the inspection is approved. It's only our first year doing it but I was told we need to reapply each year for a fee (of course).
