It's been a while, but I thought you're supposed to start the Sunday after your period. I could be wrong though.

This is what I do. They say even if you still have your period, you can start the pill...but I don't think I would start it on the first day. You don't have to start the pill on a Sunday, it just makes it easier to keep track. Can you wait until Sunday to start it?

This is really a question that you should ask your doctor.

There is always 7 placebo pills for when you get your period. If you don’t take the placebo pills to won’t get your period. If you start the pills on the first day of your period you will still have a period as the pills don’t stop a period once it starts.

You can start on first day of period, if Sunday is first day of period you are supposed to start that day and not wait till next Sunday. The pack calendar just starts with Sunday as day one but say you start on a different day you just have to remember what day you start if you don't have placebos. Some packs come with stickers if you start on a day other than Sunday that you can stick over the days on the pack to help keep track.

You can start the day of your period. There is no rule it has to be a Sunday. If you look at the pill pack insert there are instructions for starting either the day you get your period “Day 1 start” or on the Sunday after “Sunday start.”

Your period would not stop because you are shedding lining that has already accumulated.

As long as you use a backup for at least 7 days (personally, my rule of thumb was always a month) you should be protected.

I was a pharmacy tech in college and can’t believe I remember all this.

I just started the pill again 2 months ago and my DR said to start it on the first day of my period. I thought it was odd but then I got my period during the sugar pills week. I still think it's weird starting my pills on a Tuesday instead of Sunday but it worked out fine.
