What to send for loss of child

I posted about a week ago regarding my friend’s baby arriving 15 weeks early. She passed away last night. My heart is so broken for my friend. They live in another state (not a drivable distance, and flights were sporadic and extremely expensive, because that thought crossed my mind). I would like to send something but I am not sure what. I would like to send something as well as make a donation in the baby’s memory. What would you send? Also, any thoughts on charitable organizations? I was torn between March of Dimes and Make a Wish.

If you were to donate I would do March of Dimes, in regards to what to send, I would first let her know you are here for her and ask her what she needs. Maybe once a bit of time has passed something in memory of the baby would be good but for now, I would see if you can find out what she needs

What to send for loss of child

When my friend lost her baby, I waited about a month and then I had a tree planted in baby's honor with A Tree Instead. They sent her a note that a tree had been planted in her memory.

I am so sorry to hear this
I agree with the op to plant a tree in her memory
We are Jewish and it is a traditional thing to do. If you don’t like this idea maybe a star in the baby’s name?

I would donate to March of Dimes. Maybe wait a few weeks and then arrange to have a meal delivered.

Re: What to send for loss of child

whatever you do, i would wait a little while. the parents are going through so much and are probably bombarded with love from friends and family that most of it will be a haze.

i love the idea of the tree!

Ugh so heartbreaking.

I’d make a donation in the child’s name to the nicu at the hospital the baby was in.

And maybe some supermarket and gas gift cards. Little things that they don’t have to think about

I am so sorry. I would send your friends a gc to a local to her place for dinner and have a tree planted in memory of the baby. Israel does this for $18 via the Jewish National Fund and they send you a certificate that it was done.

Oh no, so incredibly sad for your friend. I agree with the others to wait a while before sending anything in memorial.

I think I would immediately send a sympathy card along with a GC to a grocery store, take out place or just a visa GC.

Later on, I would have a tree planted or star named after the baby.

Maybe a gift card to a local restaurant to order in. I'm sure neither parent wants to cook.
