Another surgery question

Before my surgery I had a shot of heparin in my upper thigh. The nurse said it helps prevent blood clots, it hurt like hell!

So my question is 8 days later and my thigh is still tingly all the way to the same side of my groin and hurts, it’s bruised too

I can’t fibd much on google, I go my dr tomorrow for an incision check but wondering if anyone had the same reaction??

Another surgery question

I had heparin and lovenox when I was pregnant and for alsmot a year after. The only time I had that was when the nurse gave me a shot after I had DS. If they are not gentle it can bruise pretty bad.

Thanks for responding
It’s crwxy how much it hurts, it almost doesn’t seem normal to be in so much pain from a shot and for so many days after. I’m thinking maybe she hit a nerve?!
I’ll ask my dr tomorrow, it’s just always something with me lately :(

After my PE I was on Lovenox shots for a while in the hospital. Nurses would give me shots in the same places over and over again in my stomach. It hurt SO BAD. My stomach was black with bruising and I got a bunch of hematomas from it. I think I still have some under the fat. LOL

Re: Another surgery question

I got heparin shots in my belly until I was discharged from rehab, then was on warfarin pills for 6 weeks.
The shots hurt, and I had small bruises around the injection site.

Maybe the nurse hit a nerve when she gave the shot ?

I think she hit a nerve, it’s so sore and almost like pins and needles all the to my groin. And it was only 1 shot!

I had heprin every 12 hours (i think) after my c-section with DS. I had it in the back of my arms. They were bruised and sore for weeks. I think thats normal for that medication.

I agree, I think it is normal for Heprin. I had some soreness and some weird yellow colored bruises after the shots.

Spoke to the dr and he said the nurse should have put the shot in a more fatty area NOT my upper thigh
He thinks she most likely hit a nerve and unfortunately the pain and pins and needle feeling will take some time to go away
Just my luck :(
