Maybe TMI...tampons after giving birth

I recently got my period again after having my 3rd child and tampons do not seem to fit correctly anymore. Has this happened to anyone? I can wear them comfortably for a short time but then they get really uncomfortable like they’re falling out. Not sure if trying a different brand would help or is this just one of those lovely things that happen after child birth?

ETA... DD is close to a year, I’m breastfeeding so I just got my period last month so I should be pretty well healed

Here is my TMI about that. I got some kind of a cyst after childbirth and can't use tampons anymore. It's painful. I occasionally use the slender kind if it's necessary, but it's still uncomfortable Maybe you need to go up a size. Or maybe you have a heavier flow and need to change more often.

That’s the thing...it starts feeling uncomfortable and I take it out and it’s barely used.

Have you had it checked out? To add my own tmi I had some tissue that grew along my scar tissue and stuck out internally which caused me some problems. I forget what it was called but they basically pinched it off with a lasso type thing. Wasn't as bad as it soundsChat Icon.

To the op, maybe try a menstrual cup. I thought they were crazy until I saw all the options on Amazon with thousands of great reviews. I've been using one for a year now and will never go back to tampons. There are lots of brands and they come in different sizes you help you get a good fit.

I felt like this for a few months after giving birth. It was like everything was all stretched out or something. I felt like it was going to slip out.
It resolved itself in a few months.
I feel like everything healed and tightened back up. Chat Icon

I have weird issues with this. Some days are fine no problem but other times I have the same issue as you mentioned and change more frequently than needed. It’s not so bad that I’ve stopped using but def different than before kids.

I find it’s not as bad with the lite ones. I’m on the pill now so no longer need the heavy ones.

I probably need to do kegels. This happened after my second, 9 lb 4 oz baby. No issues that I remember after my daughter.

Men will never understand........

My OB found it at my 6 week postpartum check for DD1. I would love to get rid of it, but she said it would take surgery to remove it and she thought it was better to leave it alone. She says the same thing at every check up. It really only bothers me if I use a tampon.

You most likely have a prolapse. It’s very common.

Tampons have never felt the same since my VBAC. I could never wear Tampax because they're too long and don't stay in. I have fewer problems with Playtex, but once in a while I'll still find them uncomfortable. It's been 3 years and it's gotten progressively better, but still not pre-pregnancy. Thought I was the only one!

Yes, tampons do not feel the same after giving birth to my first... I find them uncomfortable now.

I would go up a size. Stuff gets stretched out, and the slimmer ones just probably don't stay put after having a baby. I had that problem, and didn't have any medical issues.

Thanks all! Am glad to hear I’m not the only one!

To the OP...I never would have thought about a menstrual cup, I assumed I’d just have to use pads but with the summer coming up I was feeling discouraged about that thought. I’ve been reading about menstrual cups and initially found them gross but after doing some research it’s not as gross as I thought! How long did it take you to get used to it?

This also happened to me after my second. I went up from the medium and super to super plus. I also find that the old school ones in the cardboard stay put better. It sucks!

There was definitely a learning curve the first month or two (dropping it in the toilet, panicking that I couldn't get it out, things like thatChat Icon). I'm so glad I stuck it out though. I honestly forget I have my period bc there's nothing to it. Looking forward to summer bc you can swim with it no problem.
