Do you have a sliding door?
I'm considering putting curtain rods on my sliders.
They're 70" long
Do I need a support bracket in the middle ?
I really don't want them cuz I won't be able to open the curtains all the way

Do you have a sliding door?
I don’t have sliding doors but I know any rods over 48” have a support. If you have really light curtains you might be able to get away without them but any heavy curtains would cause a sag. Also moving the curtains 2x a day might also contribute to sagging.
If you don’t want a support you might need the hardware for drapes since they slide on the bracket.

I have 2 sliding doors and we recently put a curtain rod with curtains on both (finally got rid of the blinds that were there). The rod do have a support bracket in the center, but it doesn't bother me. We have 2 curtains per sliding door (one on each side of the support bracket. I'm not sure what you mean about not being able to open the curtains all the way? We push each curtain to the outer edge of the door to open them. The center support bracket doesnt interfere with that. Unless you meant you want to be able to push both curtains to the same side?

I do and have the middle support. I pull back the curtains to each side and have a tie back.

In my old home I had this and occasionally if you swung the curtain too fast the entire thing would come down. We were very careful and my kids were taught not to touch it. I was very lucky it did not fall on anyone, but I would not recommend it. Just get two panels.

I used a a rod that is a couple of inches thick so it uses heavy duty brackets but no need for one in the middle.

I responded on your other post but on I have a pretty lightweight rod so on occasion I just lift it up and move the curtain to the opposite side. Wouldn't be ideal for every day but possible.

Use one panel and a track system. No need for support brackets with track.

Yes, I was just going to suggest this. They are called Traverse rods. Similar to vertical blinds but without the blinds...there are clips to attach the panel too.

Oh, ok, I get it. I have the same situation with limited to no wall space on either side of the doors. It's why I waited years to replace the blinds because I thought the curtains would get in the way. They do a little, but not too bad. I still have to get tie backs for them, and I think that will keep them more neat a long the sides.

I do but when we renovated this was one of the reasons that we installed sliding doors with built in shades. I had a curtain rod before and it was the biggest PIA not really for me but for my kids when they were small. I actually saw at home depot u can purchase an attachment to your current doors for the built in shade, just another option.
