Room rental needed a few days/week? Does this exist?
It’s a different situation but my husband is looking for a short-term rental a few times a week near LGA airport. His hours are crazy and the commute is killing him. He really jusy needs a clean, quiet, safe room but would only need it 2-3 nights a week max. Hotels would be too expensive. Does anyone know how to go about finding a rental like this or if they even exist? I was thinking about how flight attendants do something like this but not sure how it works. Any advice?

I think flight attendants have the hotel rooms paid for by the airline so it doesn’t apply.
Look for a room share or sublet on craigslist.

Is there a friend or family he can stay with a few days that’s close by?

VRBO is an option but rates are probably comparable to a hotel room.

I would not be comfortable with renting a room near JFK. At all. And I’m from Queens so I don’t have that “the city is scary” LI mentality.
I would perhaps look for a basement apartment in Howard Beach or in Ozone Park.

I would look for a room rental in Flushing or Jackson Heights.

Astoria / East Elmhurst are also an option. He would also need somewhere to park his car. Street parking in any neighborhood around LGA is a nightmare.

I'm sure some things like this exist for pilots/flight crews and maybe he could try to see if they would accommodate him as wel. My father in law who is a pilot had a shared rental in Philadelphia when he was based there but lives in NY. Flight crews refer to them as crash pads.

Check out roommates.com. When I was in my 20s I rented a house and we had a woman who would come and stay for 2-3 days every other week. She paid a percentage of the rent. I had posted an ad for a roommate and she had messaged my friend and I her situation. It worked out well for all of us.
