Wow! I would have crumpled up the dress, stepped all over it, rolled it in a ball and flung it hard in her face and said, "Here's your dress you fuking bitchh!"

That would have infuriated me and I am not sure I would have been able to control myself or my mouth .

Call the store and ask for the manager of that dept. If that gets you nowhere ask for the store manager

years ago I had an incident at Macy's. I went to return something (actually just exchange it for a different color). I had lost the receipt and the cashier said to me, "how do I know you didn't steal this?"!!!!! with a big line of people behind me. I went ballistic and demanded to see a manager right there. She (the manager) apologized, but I was livid. Later I emailed corporate and they wound up sending me a gift certificate (for either $50 or $100 - I can't remember)

Post on their FB, Twitter , etc... In my experience the last few years it's the only way to get a complaint heard with businesses.
