Sprained ankle
So I sprained my ankle pretty bad last night. Hurts like heck and can't put pressure on it. Got xray- nothing broken. Got an air cast & a cane lol. I've been icing and taking motrin. Is there anything else I can do to help the healing process? It's so frustrating. I'm a busy working mom and just have no time for this. Wahhhhhh.

Re: Sprained ankle
Keep your foot elevated when you can. I’m sorry that this is happening to you.

Soak it in Epsom Salt and take some Vitamin D

Re: Sprained ankle
Thank you. Today was a lot better than yesterday. Maybe I'll try the Epsom Salt tonight too.

Sprained ankle
I am so sorry! I know how it feels... I sprained my ankle back on Nov. 30th and it's still acting up. I went to the Dr. 3 days later, but the x rays showed nothing, so he wrapped it up and told me to lay off it. Yeah, ok. I am the worst patient because I am a busy mom..... but I messed it up worse. Dec. 15 I went to my podiatrist and he also x-rayed it, MRI, and gave me one of those boot things. It does work, if you're a good patient and wear it. I kinda did, but when I thought I was in the clear, then I re-aggravated it somehow. It's still swelling. The only thing that works for me is compressing it with one of those ankle compression socks or that boot thing that the dr gave me. Please be careful, I'd hate to see yours linger, too.

Re: Sprained ankle
Yes the air cast is very helpful. I bought a lace up one today that the doctor recommended because it fits into shoes better. I’m really trying to stay off of it because like you mentioned, I don’t want it to linger! Very frustrating for me to not move the way I want to and stairs are the worst!

Re: Sprained ankle
Ive sprained my ankle more times than i can admit, and every time I did the rest routine, it tooks months to recover. The last time it happened, I did some poking around you tube for videos on how to get back on my feet fast (I had a 5K 2 weeks later). And video after video, lots of PTs showing me how to move to increase range of motion and get my ankle stable & moving again. I was walking on it during the 5k. It was sore, but not painful. It was the quickest recovery of a sprained ankle in all my years of sprained ankles. So I believe it was getting back on my feet, and working it out that helped speed up the process. I went extremely slow, I was extremely cautious. But with every attempt, I got further along my recovery. Wishing you a speedy & safe one too.
