Has anyone been to TRU in the last day or so?
Is it even open? Are there crazy blowout sales? I actually needed to return an item and exchange for a larger size, but would they even do that? I tried to call but no answer. Just curious if anyone has been there before I make a trip.

Has anyone been to TRU in the last day or so?
I was at BRU/TRU in Bay Shore on Thursday and Friday. Didn't see any specific sales. I did have to return something and I had no issues. But the store was busy and, honestly, a mess (not sure if it is normally like that because I never go there). If you are going to exchange something, I would go sooner than later.

I was at the one in Douglaston this morning. No sales, seemed to be business as usual. But I asked an employee and they said liquidation won't begin until 5/14.

No sales at all. Extra crowded and longer lines bc people are using up their gift cards and credits.

I went with DD this morning. It was empty (but we went a little after they opened). I saw lots of things on sale/clearance. This was in Queens.

I was in lake grove today and it was really crowded a lot of things were not restocked. They said they will stay open to June 1st.

Yes- When I spoke to that specific store they said they will be closed in 60-90 days. She told me nothing was on sale yet, but they should start putting things on sale within the next week or two. Why would they give us discounts and freebies when some people are willing to pay full price for everything?!? I was really hoping for some good steals because i need a few books, art stuff, lego sets and board games for next holidays-- but its probably going to be a messy disaster whenever I go to look.

Cnn had an article about this today. It said they'll be in court Tuesday to get approval to start liquidation sales and that most stores will likely close very quickly bc they simply can't pay the rent. There was a mention of attempting to keep the most lucrative stores going to try to sell them off so I guess anything can happen.

On Wednesday employees in the corporate office were told they had 60 days of employment then the company was shutting down.

I went on Saturday morning to use up remaining gift cards. There were not really any sales from what I saw, they just weren't restocking things. I guess everyone had the same idea as me because I went at 10am and there was a line of people checking out (of course they only had 1 cashier).

I went to lake grove last week and it was like nothing was happening. We went Again last night and the shelves were beginning to empty. And it was getting very messy in there! They had plenty of registers open and we checked out pretty quickly. No sales yet. Some things were on sale like clothing which was 25% but I heard those sales stop once liquidation starts and they start at 10%. So it's actually better to go now.

They haven't been approved to begin liquidation proceedings yet (I think the hearing is tomorrow?) so there are not yet any of the Store Closing sales.
