Another how much to give for wedding gift question...
I have a wedding next month for a family friend( her second wedding) and she invited our kids(good friends with her kids). Do you generally give the same amount for kids per plate as adults? I have never brought my kids to a wedding before so have no clue.

I dont give based on the number of people I'm bringing. I give based on how close I am to the couple. I would say give whatever you normally would give to a friend getting married. Don't worry about "covering" everyone's plates.

I don't think you need to cover their plate unless they are adult children. However I would give more than what I would normally give if we were just going as a couple.

ITA. I NEVER, EVER try to "cover my plate". It's such stupid logic for two reasons. One, I have no idea how much someone paid for me to eat that night and I have no interest in trying to calculate it. Second, a gift should be given based on what you can afford AND the relationship you have with the person getting married. That's it.
Give what you're most comfortable giving.

I'll disagree. I give more if my children are invited. I never consider "covering a plate" but if 4 people attend the wedding, I will give more than if 2 are attending.

Yes, but I would not double the gift if it's a couple & their 2 kids. Especially of younger kids. I would give what I would normally give and then add something additional for the kids - if it's younger kids, maybe an additional $50 - $100, depending on the relationship

I don't believe in covering plates and I don't do that. I stand by I should not have to pay to go to your wedding. my standard gift if I go by myself is a $75-$100 if my DH is coming I would give $150-$200 if my kids were coming I would probably go with $200. Maybe $250 that's pushing it.
If it was a really good friend or family member even if I was going by myself I would probably do $150 anyway

I agree with this, however, I would never bring DD to a wedding unless she was the flower girl and even then she would be going home after the ceremony.

I try to give a reasonable amount per person. Would typically give $250+- for couple. Bringing 2 kids I would probably add another $100 to $150.
