To add some salt to the wound
I just have to add a little vent about my IL's and this time it dosent even involve me-
Although I wanna beat my DH right now- I feel terribly for him...
Since I was going to his moms "ladies night bunko" party- I suggested DH invited his dad over- that way he could hang with the baby until he had to go to bed (ha- whats bed!) and then hang with DH until they got tired...
My DH replied with- he dosent wanna come here- or he wouldve said something- I reply with "thats not true- and arrange everything with his mom"
Not 10 min go by- the phone rings and its my MIL- asking "well what time does the baby go to bed- not that FIL dosent wanna hang out with his son- but he isnt gonna come there if the baby is just gonna go to bed shortly..."
I was floored and did my best so they DH wouldnt understand our convo...
I dont get it- why does it matter- either way- Come here and spend time with your son- is he not important enough?
DH and his dad have a very distant relationship- no issues or anyting (FIL has done alot for us- and my DH) just not "close" and DH has talked to me about how its bothered him many many times...
and then my MIL calls and says this- I dunno if it was her or my FIL that was curious- and my FIL did end up helping DH alot with the baby-
but either way- i thought it was such a hurtful thing to say-
My father is DEF not up for any father of the year award- BUT when he comes here- its to see all of us- regardless of whose home or asleep- Im still his daughter- and I come 1st!

Re: To add some salt to the wound
I'm sorry. My ILs are pretty much the same way. When they came up for Andy's christening they came in on Tuesday and left the following Wednesday. They are afraid to drive at night, so they weren't here when DH got home from work. Saturday they waited at their new (and completely unfurnished) apartment for BIL and his fiancee to see the place. Then on Sunday they met us at the church and after the party came by our house so DH could give them investment advice. That's all they wanted to see him for. His feelings were really hurt. They continue to prove over and over to me how freakin selfish they are.
