if i hadn't seen it, i would NOT have believed it... the human brain

a little background:

SO's mother had a brain tumor. it was operated on, it got radiation. it came back. it was operated on another two times. she was on death's door more than once.
two years ago, almost to the date, she had a small stroke.

fast forward to this past week.
thursday, when we went to get her from her room to have dinner, she didn't respond. she was staring off into the ether. SO attempted to help her stand and she couldn't bend at the waist. she was lost. we took her to the ER.
at the ER, her right side wasn't working properly and there was a droop in the face. we all thought stroke. she was able to answer when asked her name, but she slurred her words. test, test, test. they couldn't find anything. no stroke. they didn't have a medical reason to keep her. sent her home.
friday, we decided to take her to USC hospital, where all her surgeries took place. at this point, she was completely GONE. sat there with her mouth open and drooling. i thought we lost her for good. when asked her name, she just made a sound, but no words. she couldn't even move.
sitting on the bed, she had an accident and peed on herself. i have no idea if the urination triggered it or if it was just timing... but...
she started to move around as to complain that she was uncomfortable. we saw she had the accident and with the help of the nurse, cleaned her up. this was the first reaction since thursday. she then looked at SO and said (very slurred) that she wanted to go home. we were shocked.
they admit her to run test.
saturday morning we go back to see her. she's in her room sleeping. SO gently tickles her foot to wake her. she doesn't move... like her chest isn't even moving. i though, that's it. he keeps tickling, NOTHING. finally, she moves and opens her eyes. she PERKS UP... she sits up and says, "oh, hi!" AS IF NOTHING HAS HAPPENED. while we're visiting, she talks CLEARLY and is able to carry a conversation like she hasn't been able to in the past two years. she's better than before the stroke!!! WFT??!!!
she's still in the hospital because they're still running tests.

holy cow! she is her regular, grumpy, complaining self wanting to get out of the hospital bed and leave and go home lol.

SO thinks the tumor might have grown a bit and might be pressing on something and then releasing the pressure.

i have no idea what the hell to think.

had i not seen it, i would not have believed it.
she was GONE and then she was back, like nothing happened. crazy!

OMG that is completely bizarre.
Did they see anything on the brain scans in terms of the tumor growing in size or anything?

the last i heard (i didn't go back on sunday because i started my eye drop regimen in preparation for my surgery), they had had a back up in getting MRIs... so i'm not 100% sure if the doctor has seen all the results and has come to a conclusion of what happened. i expect to find out by the time i get home today
