ANOTHER spinoff on the nosering at 40

what, if anything, BIG have you done to mark a milestone birthday?

when i turned 30, my life was not in a good place and it was just another day.

when i turned 40, i ran a marathon (side note: i need to start running again).

i'm going to be 45 in may. i'm starting to think i like the idea of marking every five years with something a little out of my comfort zone. the idea of a nose ring, or any other body modification, got me thinking and wondering...

what have you peeps done to mark milestone birthdays??
who knows, i might borrow an idea Chat Icon

Nothing really special really. I usually will take the day off for a milestone birthday. Then I’ll go away for the weekend and eat and drink.

Last year was my 40th and I did naked sauna and swimming at the wellness hotel I went away to. That’s something I had not done before— too shy. I usually just skip it (you can’t wear clothes there) or stalked it out, so no one else was there. It was liberating to finally do it.

Re: ANOTHER spinoff on the nosering at 40

At 16 I got a tattoo

20 I got married

25 we bought our home in cash

30 bought a new car

These things just happened in those instances, I’ve never planned something for a milestone. But maybe I’ll start doing that, this year for my 31st I became certified to volunteer in hospice, and by 35 I’d like to focus on giving back on a grander scale, just not sure what yet.

For my 50th, we were supposed to go to Nashville for all the fun, including a Titans and a Predators game.

FIL was hospitalized 3 days before we were supposed to leave, so that trip got cancelled. I guess we can plan it again for my 55th or DH's 60th, those are 6 months apart so we can combine celebrate them
(holy CRAP those are approaching quickly). Chat Icon Chat Icon

For DH's 50th, we were on a cruise with a bunch of friends, and I arranged a party on board.
Didn't do anything for his 55th, he didn't want to.

My 30th, I went on vacation by myself for the first time. I had an amazing experience - sailed around the Caribbean.

My 35th, I bought myself a BMW.

My 40th, I had just gotten engaged and DH (who was fiance at the time) threw me a surprise party.

Nothing special for my 45th....

50th is this year Chat Icon We are going to Paris. Chat Icon

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this post and I'm so happy that my silly (soon-to-be) nose ring inspired the question! Let's just go for it, ladies!!

Re: ANOTHER spinoff on the nosering at 40

30 had just given birth a few days earlier with an extremely complicated pregnancy, I had pre eclampsia, lost my eye sight, so we had our families over for Chinese food and cake. It was the first time in months that I could relax about being so ill and my sight returned.

35 we did not really do much, we were going to, but I again got very hurt. Tore my entire knee so nothing connected top of my leg to the bottom.

40 I had an amazing birthday. We did a European tour with stops in London, Barcelona, Niece, Marseille, Florence,Rome, Pisa, Naples, Pompeii, and Positano. It was an amazing vacation.
